Thats why i explained what i did. No disrespect to his abilities nor do I feel we'll go backwards. I'm actually looking forward to the ride when we encounter what we normaly encounter. His dealings with advertiser trolls should be very dramatic in the heat of winter.

The problem for me isn't necessarily you calling him what you did, although some might think otherwise because they consider it unwarranted or improper language for this forum. Just that if you're going to call someone something strong and negative like that you're better off stating your reasons off the bat otherwise no one will know what you're talking about, I certainly didn't, hence all the WTFs.

Agree, but there is the chance that it will be sold as a 'stepping down to concentrate on footy and allow for generational change' if it ends up not being VB. It was very strong though, either from the heart or he applied his media training a little too fervently.

I don't think that is how the Hawks work - no way would they "fly in" a captain

One thing is certain - neither Sloane nor Dangerfield can be Captain until they have signed a long term deal. It makes me think that we will keep VB this year and see what happens with those two.
If they really want to stay - the Captaincy is on offer. But, if they haven't signed soon, they are immediately out of the running. Can't have a Captain not fully committed.

Agreed, and it does feel like a Sloane contract is going to be announced soon - it wouldn't shock me if he came out and said that he is in the same camp as Danger and thinks VB is the man ...

Have we been given any rough date when they expect to name the captain (whether that is Van Berlo again or someone new)? I'd assume it would be in January in which case, if Sloane's close to re-signing as has been mentioned, you'd expect him to be done by then to be another possible option with Van Berlo, Tex etc.

Do agree that you can't give it to Danger before he commits long term, and even then, he's no certainty to get it.

Maybe Danger just doesn't want the captaincy. His on-field body language/manner has certainly changed in recent times compared to a few years but that may be due to his disenchantment with the Sando era. Anyway much less hassle to move-on with FA when unencumbered by any captain status.

Probably not the most optimistic view by me but I can't help but think that Danger is keen for someone else to be given the captaincy cos he knows he'll be playing somewhere else next season. Would be a pretty bad look to get the gig only to walk 12 months later...hence why he is pushing VB's cause.
