First round pick for Bock?

With Rischitelli also getting a third band pick, i think the AFL's position is a little more justifiable with regards to Bock.

As long as everyone is getting screwed equally over the next three years, then its all fair.

Risha is rubbish in comparison, another nothing midfielder with elevated padded stats due to how the game is played. Terrible disposal.

Which now makes Bock a 27 and not a 26 pick if both Clubs use it this year by virtue of Brisbane finishing below us.

Good point Swansfan,

But then I was discounting the fact that GC may choose some players that dont seem to have much value :)

Why they chose him, and why he wasn't band 5 if bock is band 3 I don't know.

I guess my point is that so far the decent players that everyone would expect to be band 2 are being downgraded in value, and being lumped with the also rans in value. And the fact that comparisons in the players that have signed would seem to value the crows list very poorly in regards to achievements.

It will be very interesting to see what Victorian clubs are given

You really think Port got screwed over?

Port no. Us yes

Bock should be two bands higher than krak at least. Bock higher than riska.

Bock - band 2
Riska - band 3
Krak - band 4 or 5

I will forgive the afl for this atrocity if they change it so we, through some weird loophole, can draft jack Viney as some sort of work experience kid. Or they order Carlton to give us Gibbs.

I hope demetriou steps down soon before permanent damage is done to the brand

I agree as well. Rischitelli has had a decent season in a poor team. He is nothing more than a good honest player, who I believe Brisbane will be able to cover with the likes of Rich, Redden and Rockliff.

Putting them in the same category is a joke. Comparing a dime-a-dozen midfielder to an AA, B&F, mature, skilful defender capable of beating the best in the business.

Tell me they're dreamin'!

Given the way that other Suns-defectors are handling it with their clubs, I really am starting to believe that the Adelaide culture is something a bit special.

Bock is the only one who gave his club a heads-up before the deal was done. I'm giving him a lot more kudos for it now than I was a couple of weeks ago, even though I still hate it.

And Adelaide MUST know what other players are being taken by the Suns well before the Nov 5 deadline on nominating whether we will use our draft pick this season.

(And what _is_ happening with our challenge? Are we having to wait until all picks are made public before we step up, or what? So far, Bock is the best of those named ...)

Who is getting paid nowhere near as much as Bock.

Screwed.
yet the AFL still deem them to be on a par, all things considered. its a joke, but we should slowly be getting used to this kind of treatment.

Are we really that surprised?

Didn't Vlad come out and say that SA Football was one of their highest priorities going into 2011? Well if that's the case then he should be the first one banging the drum about how unjust this compensation is! But no, he'll happily see us get screwed over and over again, just as long as his east coast pets get looked after!!!

Can't wait for the 2011 fixture to come out !

Bock has really only had one outstanding year, with some pretty decent form in the couple of seasons previous to that. Since then he's had 2 injury plagued seasons and is at the wrong end of his 20s. I'm sure the AFL is taking potential into consideration with these compensation picks, hence why Bock's worth at the moment is probably around the same as Rischitelli's, and one band below a young player with a heap of potential.

I have no issue at all with the value assessments of the 3 players. IMO, the only problem is the compensation being offered.

Riska should be worth more than Bock. One is on the up and the other is on the way down.

Should be and are, speak for themself.
The value is the currency assigned.
Riska was offered up as trade bait last year, and as such wasn't as valued a commodity.
The ramp up this team is recieving is far above that of any previous inducted club, it is fairly ridiculous.
All sides involved should be raising a band at this point.
As the likely potential of definite reliable players not even of the mold that can make an AA side or B&F at any side wanes severely outside the first round the odds diminish quickly especially when the best talents have previously been scalped at 17.

Could do his knee next year.

Could be shit next year.

If Bock is on ~$750k, and Rish is on ~$500k, there is no way anybody can claim that they're of 'equal' value.

Maybe they were swayed by the fact Bock is the one who has been injury prone over the last two years and Rish hasnt and just completed his best season.

If Bock was seeking a trade to Brisbane you would take Rish as fair compensation.

Last time i checked being injury prone wasn't one of the factors in deciding a players worth...

given rischitelli was awarded his status before he won the B&F - not sure what sort of input they could have put into a formula to come tbe value?

no AA
no B&F
less money....

unless the formula is just cash/age i suspect there is no formula, but rather a gut feel assessment.
