First test of the aussie summer

Can we take out the runs at Junction please, honestly we all know it, it's a road and a half. We all know this Harris script, luckily the bloke won't get a gig unless there is a forced change. Renshaw is a better option and we add the fact he'd solve our first slip problems in a second too.
Yes, because Karen Rolton and the Adelaide Oval are minefields.

Marcus Harris is currently a better player than Henry Hunt. Period. Make all the excuses you want, the answer over a 3 year period is black and white.

I get that, my point was more so that Hunt and Street aren't banging down the door.

Marn's return to the Test team meanwhile was off the back of a strong performance in the County Championship. None of the openers next in queue have been putting in performances at FC-level that justify selection, excepting Harris (no thank you) and Renshaw.

So pick Renshaw then. That would be more than reasonable I would have thought. Gun slip fielder too, unlike Hariis who is poor at best in the field and diabolical at worst. However these selectors are rubbish, we saw it with the T20 WC squad.

The only thing Harris is, is a proven failure time and time again at the top level. I never said KR was a minefield, it's better than JO though. Renshaw should have been the one anyway.

I'd rather they let Renshaw continue to build form at FC-level. He's only a few games into returning to the opening position.

It's no big deal if Harris has to play against West Indies, and it's unlikely anyway.

If Renshaw continues to perform, get him in the squad for South Africa and India.

Reckon Renshaw/handscomb have already booked themselves a tour to india

FC talent doesn't always amount to Test quality. Look at someone like Ed Cowan for instance.

He was a dominant force at FC-level for a few years, but he just wasn't able to make the jump from FC to Test level.

Unfortunately, that appears to be the case for Harris. At an average of 25 after 26 innings, I think it's time to move on to someone else.

However, I don't care that he is in the squad for the Windies series. Given our back-up batter is unlikely to play, I'd prefer to let the alternatives play FC cricket than have them run drinks.

C'mon eth-dog. Harris beats up on roads to lift his average. Admit he did score meaningful runs in Pommie conditions in the off season.. two years running in fact. So he does have that going for him.
I must admit regardless the amount of runs Harris scores in first class level I have no faith in him opening the batting in England against Anderson Broad and Archer but then I have no confidence in Warner either over there

so lets hope all our openers continue to make runs and see how we go

Fair point. Also Renners is not all that long back from chasing away 'the black dog'. Must have been in a dark place. Is his own doing tho that he is back on CA radar after that incredible double ton two games back. That spelt I am ready to return to Test cricket.

Yep, this is also for eth-dog. If I recall Harris averaged a fraction better than Warner in 2019. Something like @9.9. Neither shouldn't be anywhere near another Ashes tour.

Harris plays on fewer roads than Hunt. He's also played fewer games. Yet Harris over the past 3 years has only 50 fewer runs at a vastly superior average.

I'm not arguing that Harris should be in the side. I'm arguing that he's currently better than Hunt. Which he unequivocally is.

Again, not the argument. The argument is who is the better player right now. Of which there can only be one possible answer, which the stats overwhelmingly support.

I was replying to Westend. Yes Harris is a better state cricketer at present. My point is Hunt is technically superior to Harris. So will have more success at Test level. To be honest not hard as Harris has an embarrassing @25.2 average. That you cant argue over.

I think its not technique with Harris but more temperament....he has always looked fantastic when in...but then throws it away when he looks a million dollars

Has been doing this every since he started playing at Scarborough...thats the frustating thing with him

So 1 day and T20 ?

Would I be correct in saying Murphy was omitted from a recent Vict.shield game.
First Class

Yeah, on a green top. He's unlikely to play this game either.

He also opened for Somerset in 6 or 7 matches earlier in the year, averaged 50, made a few 100's and a 90in the championship (plus another ton in the One Day Cup). He is building a pretty strong county record which should certainly be taken in to account come Ashes selection considering how woeful Warner, Bancroft and Harris were last time we played in England. A bit feast of famine in the shield so far but hopefully can turn that around and make scores more consistently.

After the South Africa series are there any more international matches for the summer? CA app hasn't listed anything after the third test.
I think they wanted attention on the big bash for some reason.
