Flat Pitches are killing Cricket.

Siddle's heroics aside, this pitch is, once again, flat and lifeless. We're at something like 500 runs over the last couple of days for the loss of ~5 genuine wickets (bats, not bowlers).

This game will meander away into nothing (unless Strauss has the balls to send us in again), and will rob the Series of momentum and enthusiasm.

I don't care about a Test going into 5 days if it's boring as shit by the fourth.

To be fair, I've been saying it for at least two years now.

You're right though, it's as much our shitness as it is the pitch - but you look at Huss/Had as well, and for basically a full day, they didn't look like getting out once.

Jed, there kinda was, until Siddle made some magic happen, and a crippled Clarke and a useless North got out.

Give me 3 days of exciting cricket over 5 days of this. CA seem to just want the 5 days of cricket because of the money. The SCG is by far the best pitch in Aus IMO. It offers something for the spinners and fast men unlike most of our other pitches.

I bet you thought it was exciting when we rolled them on day one and then when Hussey was batting so days 1 to 3 exciting as we were winning then once they start winning you start saying it is not exciting... A bit one eyed hey?

Remember Hilfy nearly had Strauss early too but after those first few not much happened except the odd dropped catch. Hard to prepare a real good pitch with all the rain up at the Gabba but am hopeful for the rest of the series for results, there have been good wickets for the shield games... sometimes too green but at least we get a result on a green top, most that have not been washed out have had a result.

Flat pitches are killing cricket, however, this pitch was possibly under prepared due to the weather that they have had in Bribane over the past few weeks. Brisbane has traditonally been very much a result pitch over FC and test cricket, so I think it is unfair to get stuck into it on the basis of this one game.

Would you say the same thing about the English? Ponting has just gown and slapped a faster than run a ball 50. England's bats were all at 50ish strike rate.

English new ball bowling looked lively and beat the bat quite a bit, which was evident when they got Katich behind the wicket. The Poms just got bloody stupid when they overdo the plan to get Ponting out hooking, so every ball starts being halfway down the pitch and Ponting smacked them around

You bowl the right length consistently on this pitch and you'll have things happening. Siddle proved that, Anderson proved that. It's just that when you bowl as short as the Australians did in the 2nd innings and watch the likes of Cook and Strauss cutting and pulling as often as they were allowed to, then you have no chance

Seriously the Aussie bowlers were completely rubbish the 2nd dig, can't blame that on the pitch

If this pitch was like the one it was for the first 2 days and 1 session it would've been a great match. However I got the feeling that it was prepared properly we would've had a road for most of the match.

Sometimes batsmen dominate the game. This is what happened in this Test. I know the younger cricket fans love to see batsmen throwing their wickets away to poor shots and fielders leaping around like idiots, but some of us can actually sit and enjoy a long innings by a batsman. We don't see it all the time, so what's the big deal?

Sometimes in bull fighting arena, the bull wins. Sometimes in cricket, the batsman wins. Get over it.
