best 5 foot skills at the magpies. the whole list????

1. Obree.
2. R.Shaw (especially when under pressure)
3. B.Johnson
4. Toovey
5. Egan (will never forget his 1st, 2nd and 3rd kicks - all on the full)

It that what you are after?

Didak
Davis
Pendles
Rocca
O'Brien

Haven't seen enough field-kicking at AFL level from either Dick or Anthony to include them. Lockyer unlucky, but has slipped a bit in 2008.

Didak, Davis, Rocca (goal kicking can be shakey but his passing is brilliant), Pendlebury and Clarke.

O'Brien is also very very reliable but he is rarely put under the situations of a player in the mid or up forward, he rarely has to pass to a forward. Kicking out of the backline is pretty rudimentary so while he is very reliable even under pressure he hasn't done enough to convince me. Thi

Medhurst is hit and miss, probably tries too many low sideways passes which are hard to mark. H.Shaw is pretty good but is also a backline player (although is more attacking than O'Brien).

#1: Alan Didak - In all situations, not just reliable, but near impeccable. Has a wrong foot better than most of the list's preferred foot as well.

#2: Leon Davis - What can you say? Is there anything we wouldn't back him to do by foot. Relinquishes second place because he doesn't get the distance that Didak does.

#3: Scott Pendlebury - Kicks the ball low, hard and straight. Probably the best at weighting a pass to a leading forward on the team.

#4: Marty Clarke - It's stunning, but think about it - His kicking is remarkably good. Trusted with the kick-ins for much of the year, and that responsibility wouldn't have been given to him unless he was a terrific kick, given how new to the game he is.

#5: John Anthony - Based purely off his set shot kicking, but his return of 25.6 this year is stunning, and it's not as though he wasn't slotting some tough ones - He put them through from all angles.

Rising with a bullet: Brad Dick & John McCarthy - If they both play full seasons next season, they'll likely find themselves on the list, such is their skill below the knee.

Close, but no cigar: Heath Shaw, Dale Thomas & Paul Medhurst - Heath Shaw because he would have been a monty pre-2008, but his kicking really dropped off this year, Daisy because while he can slot them exceptionally with skill, some of his field kicking is inconsistent, and Medhurst because since he's improved his decision making, he's been rocketing up the list.

Just a quick thing on John Anthony when he has had to pass the ball his ability to hit the leading target is as lethal as his goal kicking.

I do rate Dick's foot skills HOWEVER like Egan he may be a player who doesn't fully utilize them through their ability to kick under pressure or their decision making ability being subpar. Although I did rate Egan's footskills Dick's are far more sublime and his decision making ability by foot is also above par from what I've seen.

I think with time we may see a few chinks in McCarthy's kicking, his kicking has been good but I don't think it will be top 5.

Unlucky: John Anthony (haven't seen enough field kicking to make it), Harry O (improved out of sight).

you are all forgetting tarkyn lockyer. He would be close to best, much better than pendlebury

Whilst he had a poor year by his very high standards he is still most definitely in our best 5, along with Didak, Davis, Marty and although he's relatively unproven at this stage, Jack.
