I am getting tired of the Carlton Stubbornesss. Wanting to trade if they get a win only. Be real, Griffen and Jacobs worth approx the same as as has been stated by Rendell. Fremantle looking to give third pick and Carlton wanting first round or Talia or Davis.

Rendell stated a few weeks ago that Giles was the best player in the SANFL however that Gold Coast would prelist him so that we wouldny have chance to pick him. This hasnt happened so instead of letting Carlton toy with us lets just grab Giles in the Draft in the 30's and then we wont have to give up anything else and probably have a player who is now ready to go second time round in the afl.

Do not alter the pick 14 in any way ADELAIDE, not even as a swap for 18. We can do ok with Moran, MKernan, Maric, Sellar and the lad from North. We have two pure ruckmen and a third in the lad from North. Sellar & Smack can play the role also. Jacobs is not worth throwing everything at, because of his clubs stupidity. Pick 14 must be a midfielder of quality.

we did the first deal of the draft and therefore got a little dooped for Tambling giving up pick 50 when we didnt need to. As the draft exchange is showing players that are fringe players are not getting that much value.

Why not?
Fremantle traded a pick for Faulks so we could do the same for Giles if Carlton keep trying to ream us. If we did that it would leave us with plenty in the salary cap to try and snare a big name in the last part of trade week.

Why are people getting upset about Carlton's carry on with the Jacobs trade?

I'm hoping they dont do the deal, so Jacobs can nominate for the PSD and we have a 90% chance of getting him and keeping our second rounder.

We cant lose on this. We get him for a reasonable price or we keep our draft pick and most likely still get him.

Agreed!! :thumbsu:

I find it fascinating watching the greed of the Carlton alleged super-traders, wondering how far they will take this bluff or will they continue their greed right to the end ......... until they lose the lot for nothing!!

I tend to agree! Let Carlton be stubborn! Who cares?!

Best case scenario for us is for Jacobs to walk and I agree that there is some 90% chance that we can get him in the PSD. Particularly if we invite him over to the PS training which I am certain that we would do.

We are offering a reasonable deal but Carlton want the world. If they want to use the gorilla tactics here thats fine by me. I was VERY impressed what Melbourne did with Hale. As their GM said, you identify the players that you like and them you assess what you are willing to give up and the point beyond which you are not going to go regardless of the circumstances. Melbourne struck to their guns. Sure they didn't get Hale but they weren't bent over either.

I think we have approached it in the same manner. We like Jacobs, we want to get him but not at any price. There is a limit beyond which we will not go and I think Phil Harper made this pretty clear in his interview. Whats on offer to Carlton its pretty much it. We might be willing to move a bit in terms of another later pick or an equivelant player but we are not trading Talia or Davis and we are not trading pick 14 for us. They can hold off as much as they want but they are simply not getting it.

Its up to them whether they want to get something for Jacobs or nothing because he is not going to re-sign with Carlton that is a certainty.

As for Giles, I wouldn't be surprised if we do end up doing a trade with Gold Coast to get him at the last minute. You can never have too many genuine ruckman on your list and they are always tradeable commodities.

I am 90% confident that we will get Jacobs one way or another and if we don't we really have not lost anything because he wasn't ours to start off with.

I would lean towards having both pick 14 and 33 in what is considered by experts to be a very very good draft. We could get a couple of really good midfielders to the ground and round out the list nicely.

Exactly. Realistically what are the chances of another team picking him up if he didn't want to be there? Would they really want a disgruntled player on their list? Move him to Adelaide before the draft would send a pretty clear message. Would love us to keep 33.

Yep do a deal for Giles and pick up Jacobs in the PSD if he makes it to our pick.

If Carlton want to play hard ball then I'd be very happy to go that way.

Good to see everyone on here has some common sense. Chris McDermott in the Sunday Mail today is out of his mind. He says we should trade pick 14 to make the trading period a success. I hate when journalist just write for the sake of creating controversy.

Why would we do that- There are some guns in the top 14 which could be great players. How many ruckmen turn out to be great players??? They can be good or very good but they dont win you alot of matched these days

GC may be unwilling to do a deal for Gile should they want him to play for them.

They'd have an amount of picks they want to save on players they want to play for them. Giles could be one of them.

With all due respects to our former captain
(who by the way has some invested interest in this considering his best mate is the president of CFC) he is the last person who should be commenting on list management and talent evaluation considering how he has destroyed North Adelaide in his stint as a coach there! He was terrible coach but even worse when it came to talent evaluation and recruiting! He gave up the world to recruit some real duds and destroyed the club for many years to come!

Anyone who takes him as someone who knows what he is talking about has some shit for brains! Absolutely terrible at this!

Has anyone E-Mailed Matt Rendell and sort his opinion on that scenario?

At this stage, even if he mentioned it, I'd rather it didn't appear on here anyway. Only one day to go before the end of trade week, let's not give out free info to Carlton's recruiting team on the back of Rendell not being able to keep his mouth shut :o

Certainly it would be fascinating to see what he thinks though. He gave Giles an enormous thumbs up on the radio and said we wouldn't be able to get him because Gold Coast would take him - I wonder if now that they haven't, he would consider Giles.

Last year when he took Craig he said that an extra ruckman was "surplus to our needs, but too good to pass up at that pick". If we do bring Jacobs in, you get the feeling that the Crows would rather not have another ruckman come as well. Rendell may be waiting to see whether or not the Jacobs trade is going to happen, with a little Giles heist up the sleeve as plan B if it doesn't.

Yeah, makes sense. :thumbsu:

All talk girls..ill be laughing when yous cave in tommorrow at 2pm

Thats 1:30pm Adelaide time :D

Trade week has gone to long. I for one cannot wait until 1:30 tomorrow just to end the speculation.

I would like Adelaide to look at Giles regardless of Jacobs. He was fantastic this season in the SANFL.
