Had the question been, who is the better player right now, I would've voted for Ablett, but I would rather have Franklin in my team than Ablett if I had to choose between the two.

1. He's younger and has more games ahead of him.

2. He's a key position player and a damn good one - and they're hard to come by.

3. Franklin is a KPP who can be thrown into the midfield if need be. Ablett is a midfielder who you can't exactly throw up to CHF.

I'm biased, but given the GF performance I'd have Ablett over Franklin. I'd have Hodge over Franklin too. Both guns though.

buddy for mine. he is just worth so much more. i think ablett, while his brilliance can never be underestimated, isn't as valuable as people think he is. geelong played probably their best football this year when he was out injured. he's a super player but midfielders can be covreed quite easily whereas you can build a team around a player like franklin.

Because Franklin is a KPP and they're hard to come by. Ablett's brilliant, but a few good midfielders can make up for one brilliant one. You only have a couple of KPP to start with.

Very hard to split the 2 as the poll results show. But the way my biased eyes see it is that say Ablett is a 100/100, there are probably 6-7 other midfielders out there that are 90/100. Say Franklin is a 95/100, there is probably only 2-3 forwards that are currently 85/100. There are few mids that can emulate what Ablett does, it's just that he does it week in week out, but outside of Fev, how many forwards are there going around that can kick 7+ goals and win a game off their own boot.

Ablett is better but Franklin is more valuable, and if I was starting a team up from scratch, Franklin would be my number 1 pick.

That's my opinion, but I'll add that Ablett can't kick 7 goals in a game but he can kick 3+ from the midfield, whereas Franklin can have an off day and kick less. Hawthorn are so good because they have Roughead as well.

Franklin. While I think Ablett is a better player, despite his terrible speech skills, Buddy is just one hell of a lot more valuble, huge and accurate kick, athletic, fast and hella strong.

Franklin comfortably the best forward in the game. 114 in a season at 21yo is a joke.

The only way I can split them is to say that if Geelong had Franklin they would be unbeatable!! Where as the Hawks would still be beatable with G Ablett.

Franklin. While I think Ablett is a better player, despite his terrible speech skills, Buddy is just one hell of a lot more valuble, huge and accurate kick, athletic, fast and hella strong.

Yeah I agree that hella strong players are hard to come by.

But I'd take Abletts match-opening silky-smooth skills over Franklins one-dimensional game nearly every time.

I would take a forward capable of kicking 100 goals a season over ANY midfielder.

There is about 4 or 5 players i would take over ablett.

Lance Franklin is overall the better player. Not to mention more valuable since quality KPF don't grow on trees

if buddy isnt kicking goals he goes up the ground and sets them up for roughy,williams,osbourne etc. He can play a role like Richo has this year if he needs to.
