Ok, so I know the French open is a fair way off, but I will be in Paris in May/June for 3 weeks so I've talked my fiancée into taking in a day of the French open. I've registered for tickets already and they go on sale tomorrow.

It's probably the grand slam I least wanted to attend, but I always planned on going to all of them eventually so we might as well take the opportunity while we are there. As it draws closer, and with the fact that I will soon have tickets in my hand I'm actually obviously getting pretty excited about it. Like last year when I went to see the Knicks play at Madison square garden, getting the tickets was a huge buzz in itself.

I thought I'd start a thread here to ask if anyone here has ever been to Roland Garros? If so, what is it like for spectators, any tips or advice for people like me heading there for the first time? What are the facilities/grounds like compared to Melbourne Park etc.? Hopefully someone here has got some good French open stories to share.

Did you end up going? I did a tour of Roland Garros in June, but would be interested to hear what it was like to actually go to the French Open.

Did I ever do a tournament report from my trip over there this year? i honestly can't remember. It is a pretty cool place, certainly much smaller than Melbourne Park though.

Haha, only took 8 months to get a reply, better late than never I guess!

I did go, it was a beautiful place, there was something very special about watching Nadal play on centre court at the French. Definitely an experience I will remember for a long time.

First time I'd ventured onto the tennis board!

Sounds like an amazing experience. I'm sure you'd have to pinch yourself to believe that you were actually witnessing Nadal on Centre Court at the French.
