I really don't get the ducks and drakes shit. I was pumped Fyfe was going to play on.
so when do they announce he's going for surgery and will miss the next 3 years?

Dunno anything about shoulders. Only reason to wait for the surgery would be if the joint tightens up/becomes more secure when any inflammation has settled down and/or (microtears?) healed.

Is it the kind of thing that'll benefit from being given a week or two to settle down, or is there little point in waiting?

Makes sense I guess. Saints waste time working out a Fyfe matchup, the two talls oddity is resolved, Fyfe's body language on the news last night walking from his doc appointment, keeps us BF posters busy during the week, and Neale is the surprise packet to run riot in the 4th.

Neale will cramp up in the 2nd half if he starts the game, better to bring him in later, rather than narrow down our red vest options if someone else gets injured.

Bummed too, but I'd imagine they gave it the last possible minute to :

• Make sure every avenue is explored re: risk of playing a player of Fyfe's caliber
• Keep STK working on their gameplan

I'd say with the information the club has, they think the intensity of this match is not in the best interests of Fyfe. That doesn't mean he goes in for surgery this week, just that the shoulder should have a week off before the rigours of the game. Hell we do have Carlton next Friday Night...

As for the 'ducks and drakes' ... I don't think Freo were pulling that, I think they were genuinely leaving it 'til the last minute to explore every avenue to get him up to play. Probably knew earlier than now of course, but not much. IMHO of course.

I'm disappointed that Fyfe isn't right to play. But I'm really glad that the club haven't tried to play him when he isn't right to play. Just not worth it. Better safe than sorry. And it gives Anthony another shot. You never know... maybe he'll even take a mark!

I'm actually a little relieved Fyfe isn't playing, he's a guy you simply don't take any risks on. Looking forward to seeing how Anthony goes, he's really due to hit the scoreboard; his effort certainly can't be questioned.

Hill will be the barometer, if he can finally have a big game against Jones we should win.
