As long as you felt the same way for our recent wins
I’m never that confident, I don’t think our team has done enough to cement confidence in any game except maybe vs GC this year.

Rucci bringing up the JJ ‘poster’ from Showdown 45 in his article in the rag today. Using the excuse to boost Hinkley’s record against Pyke to say it should be 2-5 not 1-6. If only there had been Snickometer sensors :drunk:
One thing wrong with that. The ball did not hit the post. I wish it had for the Port pain factor. Mates in direct line behind the flight of the ball said it was close but clearly did not hit the post. I’m believing them.

Why aren’t you confident?

All week I’ve heard the media talk up Port and the only rationale seems to be this is their on week.

Well we’ve got a lot to play for and it’s a showdown so I don’t see how we won’t be on either.

They aren’t a better side than us and our form has been better. They beat Geelong who were still asleep from the bye.

Our side has been strengthened from last week and we are only Lynch, CEY and Doedee off our best.

We’ve beaten them 6-1 and have their measure.

It’s our home game.

**** Port and **** their undeserved adulation.

Tex and Betts to fire. Smith to turn out be a midfield gun and the Crows to trawl through my posts for my other good ideas. But they don’t have to look to far, drop Douglas and Mackay for good.

This always happens leading into our home showdowns of recently!
Remember back in 2017 where Robbie Gray kicked a late winning goal against St Kilda, and many Port people (fans and media) went into the Showdown the next week going on about beating the Crows and finishing top 4, and we absolutely belted them by 84 points in the wet. Should and could have been a much larger margin. Also happened in 2016, where the game was over at HT, and last year.
Looking forward to hopefully giving Poort another reality check.

It was never conclusive but I never saw any vision to suggest it hit the post.

What’s the weather doing in Adelaide this arvo? Dry game?

Doesn’t matter; rain, hail or shine Douglas will still manage to slip over

Douglas to be in the bests.

He’d be favourite for the Showdown Medal if they handed it out for ‘Pressure Acts’ i.e. being a fraction too late to actually impact a contest.

What is the first point of call after every stoppage?

A ball up or a throw in.

The midfield then have to win the contest to control the game.

If the midfield is applying pressure, that will then help the oppositions delivery of the ball, giving our defenders greater ability to win their own contest.

Every contest starts and stops will the midfield.
There are 50 or 60 forward 50 entries only 15 goals kicked so 40 plus rebounds

Out if the forward 50 alone forget the half forward line

No wonder laird and smithhave a huge impact on rebound attack

I'm sick of their unduly arrogant supporters. **** them. There is only one team in this town. Today is the day to make that clear.

We have to put up with a lot of shit, time to take it out on the little brother.

What?

I was talking about pressure being applied by the midfield. By adding extra pressure, that will help a forward line entry be repelled by the defenders. You know, the role Smith and Laird play.

Also feeling pretty uncertain about this game, with Collingwood losing there’s a great opportunity to consolidate a top four finish so it’s feels like the sort of game we’d stuff up.

Port will come out pissed off and with something to prove but I think they’re mentally weak.
I think we have a point to prove too.

History says entering showdowns needing a win to stay with top eight, is fatal. They're phuqed if they lose. Basically two games from home final with 7 to play. They have lots of young players who may crumble under the pressure.

We bring our A game, we won't lose. Our style suits wet weather footy.Theirs don't.

If we keep rozee quiet, they lose thier avenue to goal. Dixin don't bother me, we shut out cameron and Hawkins.

Intrigued how obrien will go. Showdowns are semi final intensity. He's carrying the Ruck, had some big weeks. But then his Ruck coach, can coach, Jacobs ain't no fool either. See how he gets up for this.

It is time for Smith and Laird to break a game open. I fancy kelly may have a big afternoon, his form slowly building, getting handy at contested marking in defense. He suits scraps as well.

Walker will be fired up, with Jenkins new attitude, Betts becomes dangerous. Milera may play ff again. Our forwards can handle thier defense but thier forwards need to invent avenues to goal. They also need pick up thier contested ball game, it's weaker than ours. They rely on run and numbers at contest.

Sloanes form building. So he should be prominent tonight, always nearly plays showdowns well.

I would like to see Keath take Dixon then run off him. However hartigan will get that job.

Rozee likely to get laird. Laird will hurt him more in tackles. He's only a kid, must be getting sore.

If we bring to ground in our forward half, we win. If they keep marking in defense or we kick to where they outnumber us,......

I expect us to kick away in the second half, maybe break open the floodgates in the last quarter

This could be a percentage booster

Too bad that ball didn't hit the post lol. People just don't know how perspective works.

If it's being rebounded out if defence the forwards will be first applying pressure

Unless you don't think the ball will get to our forward 50

It has to get there first before it can be rebounded. If we midfield is on top, they have far less opportunity to get it in to their forward line.

Confident of a win today but not expecting it easy at all. Topsy turvy game coming up - lots of blood to be spilled in the game day thread!
Like any normal week !!

Today is set up for a classic Crows disappointing day. Opportunity to heap pressure on Collingwood and push for top 4, under pressure opponent and we also coming off a loss.

Our midfield is solid, our defence is better than their forwardline but can we kick enough goals ?? Today hinges on the ability of our forwards to make the most of their opportunities. If we can get 7+ goals out of the 2 big guys we win.

Pressure is also on Laird, Smith and Greenwood. They've been down on form in recent weeks, we need them to lift.

Crows by 16

Plus who cares even if it did hit the post, we still had plenty of time to win the game.

I hope Port lose today by less than a goal, because a goal score review shows the ball on snicko barely touching the post.

Yeah we are going to r restrict them to 15 entries are we

Maybe we will it's never been done before by any team in history but hey who knows
