Good news Cat fans,Essendon just replaced us as most disliked. ;)
Let's work real hard next Saturday night to get our nomination back. It's very annoying not following the most disliked club.
In fairness it was us on BF not too far back.

Well for the last few years we have been constantly attacked by Hawthorn and Fremantle trolls. So many Geelong posters have gone on the attack as a result, which comes across as arrogant I guess. But when you're being constantly provoked, one's going to slip through every know and then. If sticking up for your team is the definition of arrogant, then colour me that.

"TROLLS".. I thought it was just good ol' banter. Smile sweetheart, you're on camera..;)

Haha! Never say no to a good ol' arrogance debate... lid on it... personalities don't matter...
we are playing one game at a time... dumb people make dumb statements..

CATch the drift, and we'll all be happy!:cool:yourself

I thought that was your default.

Grade one uses crayon.

Don't you ?
No, I teach high school, not grade one.

I teach kids how to write paragraphs in English.

That's where we learn to string individual sentences, such as this one and others like it, together.

As well as having earned our pen licences, we sometimes get called really cool names, like Block Writing Man.

When you finish high school, maybe you can write and understand paragraphs too.

People who write big paragraphs have big penises.

I hate the Cats.

Its not the amount of free kicks that matter - its what impact they have
Wotevs trevs-'refuge of scoundrel line' for mine -but Geelong make a lot of their luck-the ball was on our forward line, we were making the play. Do you think its a fluke that Geelong win lots of close games? Its not, its because they are working hard, making their luck happen.
But your point was that Geelong were 'beloved' by the umps and i pointed out that you rate more highly on the 'frees for' than we do. So you are more favoured.
Freo, as you will note, rate low on 'frees for,' was not just in our match- and there is a reason for that.
So am sorry but its hard not to conclude that its just silly stuff by sore losers really.

Can anyone explain how the free given against Hill for a feather touch in the back with just over a minute to go and basically won the game for Essendon was any different to the Christensen free? Anyone?

It wasn't any different at all...both shouldn't have been paid.

Seriously?

Christensen and the Carlton defender were both running with the flight of the ball. At the instant the ball crossed their direction, the defender throws a right punch as Christensen lunges for the mark. He is already diving to the ground when the defender's left hand then makes contact with Christensen's back. This is clearly shown in the AFL.com video querying this mark - look for the replayed shot from behind in particular...

Hill, on the other hand, has both hands in the back of the Essendon defender as the ball is incoming, and then drops back into space to take the mark. Whether the Essendon player is truly impeded is questionable, so it's probably a technical free as he was smart enough not to go backwards with Hill as the ball arrived - but a free nonetheless. Watch the AFL.com video of the last two minutes, about 1:10 into it - again, pretty clear...

The rule, while I can't quote it word for word, simply says you can't put your hand in the back of the player in the contest to give yourself an advantage. Close analysis of Christensen shows it didn't happen until after he was already going down and the ball was past them, therefore no advantage. Hill - clear as a bell...

That was almost poetical.

Bahaha

Boomer, Scott Thompson, zeibel Lindsay.. All cheats playing for frees constantly.

Lindsay is surely the least respected player in the afl.
Thompson and lindsay are big milkers ill give you that. But ziebell hahahaha:drunk:
Boomer as well hes just hateable because hes so good.
On geelong i used to like them but it is hard for any neutral to like them at the minute.

The kids, you teach, are going to overuse, commas.

Ellard (2), Murphy and Menzel were all given set shots from free kicks. Not our fault they failed to convert. Or the umpires, while we're at it.
That's the hilarious thing about this thread, it was blatantly obvious the umpires were trying to make sure they didn't give Geelong any soft frees after North Melbournegate and Freogate and a significant portion of Carlton's scoring came directly or indirectly from borderline frees that were plucked out.

...but their current coach is a "A" grade sook and their captain is a cheat and the whole culture of throwing yourself forward and ducking has gone right through the club
There is a bloke called Lindsay Thomas who plays for North, Cats don't have anyone who can compete with his Academy Award "throwing yourself forward" performances.

...Second one - this is the same argument Cats fans have been trotting out since the 1997 semi v Adelaide, where many screamed highway robbery for an incident that happened, believe it or not, in the third quarter which they claimed cost them the game...
The only incident I recall any Cat fans complaining about was the mark (not paid) to Colbert with a minute left before the final siren, which incidentally the umpire the following day publicly apologised to Colbert and the GFC for what he acknowledged was a wrong decision.

Yep, too many naive players that refuse to duck
Haha nice try but no cigars.
Too many bad habits that lack sportsmanship. The umps don't like it and whilst they can't necessarily ping you for all that unsavory rubbish, they get you for it by rewarding the opponents. Just try playing the ball perhaps-it would improve your football as you would have noticed in the last quarter against Geelong-you dropped the rubbish and got on with footy and it made a difference.

But the punch to Christensen's shoulder, while he had space on the defender, was the only thing preventing him from taking the mark anyway. The right result was reached.

Justice for all.

Have to laugh at this thread. So many posters will dismiss the fact that Geelong are decidedly middle-of-the-road in terms of free kicks for and against; and stone cold last in terms of goals kicked from free kicks - because these stats lack (subjective) context. Then with their next sentence, they'll lambaste Selwood because he is given the most free kicks, based purely on the numbers and completely ignoring the context in which they're paid.

So, which is it?
