Max Holmes survives, the curse is broken
I was talking to be seat neighbour about that - how much do we think he enjoyed not having to play Brisbane tonight

He was a very happy boy in his post match interview

Potentially unpopular opinion - I'm also really happy for Bailey Smith. I think the media are protecting their own in relation to him. Even in the final minutes Ben Casanelia (who called him a "dickhead" on X whilst simultaneously mouthing off about how professional should use professional language) was describing his goal in terms which lingered on how unfortunate it was that Geelong fans couldn't truly celebrate the goal with him.

So happy for this mob. Each iteration of the side is a bit different.

Well done cats. Your team is what us Dees fans can only dream of.

My late mother who passed just before the 2022 flag loved the cats. She could never watch a game live because she got too stressed out so tonight would have fully triggered her.

All the best for next week.

Does Baz making the GF (in his first year across) qualify him for the famed WB midfield? Asking on behalf of 92,300+ Cat members
Well, they don't get that sort of crowd in Ballarat, eh?!

Great win by the Cats. Fought hard to get back into the game early, and wrested control from the 2nd quarter onwards. Great effort, now onto next week!!

Flipping through the stats - they tell a pretty clear story.

50 Clearances to 33, and 20 Centre Clearances to 5.

Our midfield absolutely walloped them. Forward line was not very efficient tonight - the only reason it was close.

Read on the AFL website that the goal they got at the start of the last quarter was a result of the first centre clearance they had won since the 10 minute mark of the 2nd quarter. To go over a quarter and a half with getting one centre clearance is staggering, especially when they had Newcombe and Worpel in there most of the night.

Dangerfield seemed oddly emotional during that.
First time leading his team to a grand final - don't blame him for being a little emotional

I'm sure they'll still argue Matt Kennedy is a better recruit

Huge credit to Jhye Clark. I've had doubts previously but he really stood up in some big moments when we were against the wall tonight.
Looked like one of the cleanest out there when it got wet. Apart from that howler turnover he was excellent.
