Cop out. If you want to discuss it, make a point as to why he's a KPD. He doesn't play as a KPD, so show why he is one

If your point is because of his build, i have the build of a ruck, but am not a ruck, and play full back or back pocket. It would be incorrect to call me a ruckman.

The other posters above have answered pretty much as I would have - he played a lot of games defending the second big tall at the back-end of the season.

PS - Jeez, are we really having an argument on whether Aliir is a KPD on a Dees forum? As I said before, let's just agree to disagree.

We already agree to disagree so you don't have to respond if you don't want, but I don't feel a month of footy as a 2nd defender is good enough to make you one of the top 10 KPD in the league
If they laid out for free selection the best 30 key defenders on AFL lists Allir isn't making the top 10 of anyone's ( at least now anyway )

Also agree that Phil Davis is better than Tmac

For an undersized guy he might be only just behind Hurley and Rance as far as 1 on 1 defence goes
He almost single handedly beat us in round 1 this year with his job on Hogan
It was only the smart lead up work of Watts and Hogan to get Davis stuck defending the wrong man that got us over the line

Davis has a certain can't-stay-fit problem that reduces his ranking in my eyes. You can be prime Gary Ablett Jnr but if you aren't playing at least semi-regularly you're no good.

Without any certainty I thought he played most of the last 2 years

12 games in 2015. This year he played 21 - first time he's played more than 13 games in a season since 2012. Has only cracked 20 twice in his career.

I agree that he's a massive talent but his propensity for getting hurt is a black mark.

Also if I'm remembering correctly didn't he miss those games last year with a severe Collision injury?

Either way I'd take him over Allir a hundred times over

2016 = 12 of 22 = 54%
2017 = 21 of 25 = 88%

And yes, I'd also easily choose him over Allir.

Mate, I'm not saying I agree that Aliir should be considered a top-10 key defender in the league! I'm simply stating I think he is a key defender!

Can't wait to see how he goes after a full preseason. No doubt that knee injury basically ruined his season last year, seemingly taking until Round 23 to come good ... but despite the game in general, that Geelong game really made you salivate about what could be.

Yeah it did, I was thinking early in the season when he clearly came back too early and wasn't going that well, and then jumped to my next point about that Geelong game. No doubt such bad luck would be a big driving factor for him.

Sorta started as i said in the first few seconds of the nab challenge, went down hurt. Then the season took it's toll with concussions

Sidebottom is on the same level as Viney, Jones & Lewis, just a different style.
Neversaid Treloar wasnt any good, just pointed out he gets alot of the ball but just boots it and regularly turns it over. He is the type of player that stands out to umps

TMac the third best defender in the game according to CD. Behind Rance and McGovern.

Was doing some thinking about this, whilst Tmac needs to improve his goals conceded stat I don't think there is a defender in the comp outside Rance and Hurley who takes the number one forward every week and still provides the drive Tom does. He also played significantly better as Hunt, Omac and Frost improved so with Hibberd slotting in I think Tmac will continue that form.
