if we are even to consider finals in the coming years we need a backman.

dawson should be put in the vfl until he develops some strength.
jacobs isnt a reliant backman. he isnt big enough to take a main player.

we need a big built player. if spida is to go, we should aim at a good backman. a big body.

Dawson should be put to the gallows. Fail once, shame on you, fail twice, Clarkson is a ******* moron.

Let Dawson get some bloody experience in the VFL. That was rediculous. Roughead should have been with Thompson all day. Franklin should have been playing (instead he got injured again in the VFL) and Croad could have played down back.

Why does the rule only apply to Dawson? He has to "get experience" and cost us games, but Buddy and Doyle have to prove themselves in the VFL like everyone else.

We lost that game before the ball was bounced, Clarko you fool.

Edit:
Watchin Thompson on Fox Footy now: "Our plan was to get me one out against Zac, who's a young fella with a lot to learn."

get lost you moron. you'll finish 9th again and have ur depressed team. enjoy archers suspension, thug.

drop dawson. bring in boyle. try gilham, bloody hell clarko. dont keep him if he does this week in week out.

My issue, isnt that our FB has got 16 goals kicked on him in 2 games, its that in 3 years time, he'll still get 16 goals kick on him in 2 games. Roughead at CHB last year against Hall, Richardson is worthwhile as he's going to be a good player. Dawson is a long shot and we're giving away a lot of goals for a speculative player.

Why are we so sure Dawson is our future FB? Nothing according to the BH and Hawthorn games ive seen. He's praised about his height and speed, which is great if he is average or above average at other things, but he's not. Going on with this, apparently we have no options. Campbell, Roughead, Boyle are all young players with as good a chance as Dawson at FB.

thornton is a defender who can take the big guys as well as some small guys. was really developing excellently until he injured himself preseason last year and has really gone downhill rom there-i think he would be a great fit at hawthorn. is down a bit on confidence, but seems to be getting better and im sure he will get back to his best in time. what would you be willing to part with to get thornton?

Play Roughead on Thompson from beginning, isn't he still in the development phase as well?

Geez people jump to conclusions about us quickly. Our 4 wins aren't suddenly thrown out the window after losing to a very hungry Kangaroos outfit. They wanted it more, and beat us where we are normally most dangerous, out the middle. We controlled patches of the game, and didn't take out opportunities. They kicked some goals from the boundary where we missed, Willo missed ones he normally would have kicked (kicked a beauty though).

We never have played Telstra Dome well, we didn't tonight. Whilst Zac was exposed again, its not the end of the world.

I think Boyle needs to be given a shot at CHB and play Roughead at Fullback if it was me. But Clarkson seems determined to play Zac on all occasions this year.

I mentioned the day after the draft on here how it was foolish to pass and then Andrew Swallow was picked right by the Kangaroos. Swallow was an underage all australian full back. Would have been nice to develope thats for sure.

Swallow is a midfielder mate...

That was Austin Lucy who was very much overrated in my eyes.

I think we are key forwards short more than backman. If we had Croad and Roughead as our two bigmen in defence..... and had Jaccobs, Smith, Sewell and Guerra around them, it'd be quite a good balanced defence... but..

We don't have a true CHF, Franklin, and Boyle are still developing, and Dowler is a way off, but hopefully we build a forward line with that in mind, and Willo the leading small forward.

I think its an option to drop Croad back on occasions and develop Boyle and Franklin across half forward. If we are still in development phase, those two need developing just as much as Dawson.

So we have a potential backline and a potential forward line and an actual centre line.

Im all for throwing everything to get a young backline player such as Fisher from the Saints.. Spida, Osborne and Ladson are trade bait...

Mate - if you want quality, you'll need to put some skin in the game. Even Pagan wouldn't be tempted with Osborne & Ladson. As good as he is, Spida is a head case - and too risky for another club to take a punt on.

Not being a smart arse here - but the shoe will be on the other foot end of this season. You'll trade away your early picks for experienced players to fill key posts. Guarantee you'll do it - and then watch the sparks fly from supporters.

BTW - your 1st & 2nd pick for Petrie & Watt, and we'll forget about that Lance Piciaone thing.;)

As a Hawks member and avid supporter it is incredibly frustrating seeing Zac Dawson being towelled up by opposition forwards, re. Rocca & Thompson. Surely there is a fine line between gaining experience and being the difference between a win and a loss??? I have a lot of time for Dawson but everytime he goes near the pill i shudder!!!

Only if its a quality player on offer, namely Rutten or Scarlett.

Had Roughead started on Thompson (and Rocca for that matter) the issue wouldn't be as overblown as it is.

By playing the likes of Franklin, Boyle and/or Barker (when he finally gets healthy) up forward, we switch Croad back and we're no worse off than a lot of sides, particularly when most other sides don't have a Dowler to develop up forward, either.

Will not happen, especially with the supposed 'Super Draft'.

No to Ladson. He is one bloke that can carry the ball and hit a target. Bit of a downhill skiier at times, but he's been in career best form thus far.

As for Spider, if contract deals do not pan out, we need to milk a trade for all it is worth. Perhaps a 3 way deal with Spider, Aker and a plethora of draft picks and other kids will happen, who knows.

West Coast could use him as a stay at home forward...and they can give us Judd.

I think you're spot on. Croad is a proven negator in the back half.
