I understand the logic. But this commentary bias thing just isn’t true at all. The game on the weekend they spent a fair chunk of time raving about Collingwoods. People pick one incident and it rules their thinking. If it's true that we're an incredibly divisive football club that have over the years drawn the ire of generations of ex players and coaches (the entire population of a commentary team). Your statement could be applied by anyone making the argument that commentators are in-fact biased towards Collingwood with a fair degree of certainty .

Thats what i meant by that statement. That one incident (howe v Fog) could have individual viewpoints that come across differently in comparison to another incident later in the game. Meaning yes, one specific moment may seem bias. But later on, another view on another decision.
Edit: thats hard to explain... I mean people will pick one instance and view it in isolation. Rather than a culmination of individual comments/non comments. Which if there was a true bias being displayed, there would be a large culmination
May there be some bias? Maybe. But to suggest our games are jam packed with Anti-Collingwood Drivel is just flat out wrong. Dunstall may hate Collingwood, and he may choose to not comment on a couple things because of it, but geez i’ve also heard him rave about Collingwood. People need to get a grip. This is a playing group that gained so much respect and media love last year. To suggest some form of considerable bias is laughable in my eyes
Our games are no different to others. Commentators blatantly commentate in favour of teams all the time. Its not just Collingwood, as people seem to like to pretend it is
Just to clear it up....i wasnt implying you were a nuffie....that was directed at the TV producers.I'm not a nuffie either, but I don't enjoy watching via Fox generally speaking, especially when I can't see who is doing what. It's one thing to show the game unfolding in a realistic way; seven does this. They show the mark in closeup, not after the event. They then switch to the wide shot. Fox, until now, has shown a wide shot and as the ball looked like being marked, for instance, they left it on wide, mark is taken, then they would switch to a useless closeup. Too late she cried.
There's absolutely no reason, except for laziness, for giving us the Fox Extreme Wide Shot. That is, play is on the outer wing, player has ball in hand looking to dispose, we can't really tell who it is, especially if it is not a Collingwood player, the commentators are busily talking about their past exploits instead of calling the play, (happens too often with in-jokes thrown in to further alienate the viewers), and we get a view from the outer wing, across the centre and across towards the camera side. No player on the outer side is ever going to kick it 80 metres to the inner side. He's going down the line, or he's going to centre it. That's it. We need a camera angle through to the centre. Anyway, Fox finally saw the error of its ways on Saturday and it was excellent.
I also noticed some interesting new camera shots from high up behind the goals; I suspect all of this means they are experimenting for the upcoming finals series. I'm going to call fox today and congratulate them. God knows, they've had my negative ones for years.

Yeah i feel sorry for those 2 guys tooI feel for and GCS supporter trying to watch their game against the Hawks yesterday. The commentating was unbearably biased towards the Hawks.
I understand where you're coming from, and every team seems to think the commentators, umpires etc are biased against their team specifically. But when it comes to Dunstall in particular, the criticisms are valid from pies fans.I understand the logic. But this commentary bias thing just isn’t true at all. Yeah i understand and agree he may carry on like that occasionally. But he is one of sometimes 7 commentators on a night.I understand where you're coming from, and every team seems to think the commentators, umpires etc are biased against their team specifically. He has stated numerous times over the years, including at a Christmas function I personally attended, that he "hates Collingwood with a passion".
Sometimes he sets this hate aside and provides some reasonable comments. But he also pulls BS like suggesting Howe should be suspended. Another incident off the top of my head was him going hysterical over a free kick provided to Jesse White in one of our games, and continuing to whinge about it in the media over the following week, when it was an obvious free that the umpires department came out and explained to him.
Posters here may exaggerate the bias, but Collingwood do tend to be the most despised team by the general public (outside of those of us who are fans).
How many games do you watch each week?Yeah i understand and agree he may carry on like that occasionally. But he is one of sometimes 7 commentators on a night.
What i have an issue with, is people carrying on like the commentary is filled with purely anti-collingwood drivel. Wake up people
As a lover of this game like all of us are I would like to watch a game where the commentators do exactly that...commentate.
The bias against our club by commentators is getting really tiresome. It's unprofessional.
Can the AFL please set some standards so that I can watch my team play without having to listen to commentators blatantly support the opposition.
I want to hear the game being called. I don't want to feel like I am sitting in the middle of the opposition cheer squad.
It depends, if i am busy over the weekend maybe only 2, but if i’ve got a weekend free at home, closer to around 6.How many games do you watch each week?
Over the course of a week I tend to watch 6 or 7
I don't hear the obvious anti-Collingwood bias in our games in relation to similar bias in other non-Collingwood games
I like to think I have the ability to recognise the difference
Its not about Collingwood mate. Every week the commentators barrack for the underdog. As a lover of this game like all of us are I would like to watch a game where the commentators do exactly that...commentate.

Why does ch7 need up to 7 commentator s on Friday nights.Richie Benaud s theory was less talk is better
Who's there?“Illicit laughter”. You make it sound like a spin-off of Fifty Shades where the protagonists tie each other up and tell knock-knock jokes.
Peter Booth.
Great Collingwood man. Great ABC radio VFL/AFL caller
2:12:30 he tells Tim Lane he can’t call the last 2 minutes, such is his emotion at a Grand Final Pie victory.
Listen to the whole 2 hours plus.
You don’t need actual vision because these guys called the action as : who has the ball : where is the ball : who is winning the ball.
Simple commentary that puts you AT THE GAME.
Just have the coverage from ch 9 and mute it and then put abc radio on, music to my ears!On my way to Drums hotel to watch the game was listening to the Carlton game and one of the callers mistook Silvagni for Kruezer.
Fortunately, I didn't hear the game as sound was low and rather enjoyed the telecast.
I have been listening to the cricket on ABC at night and it is so good. You know where every fielder is, the type of ball bowled and no bias from either English or Australian commentators. There are even gaps of silence as the bowler bowls. No need to fill in silence with rubbish stats.
I have actually found that I have almost perfected the zoning out the commentators watching at home.

Huddo.... Every game!!! His constant umpiring against us.
Jon Ralph getting Collingwood mixed up with Carlton at 1:30 <shakes head>
