Linke is a mid and a genuine prospect for mine. He's like a CC who can move and run but is capable of a big pack mark for a midfielder.

Draper won't be around for us but he is a fantastic mid/forward hybrid. More mid than forward but is very capable at both roles. Speed, strength over the ball and great kid.

I haven't seen enough of the others as my main focus is the SA kids but would be more than happy with either. I think Linke will be around our picks and like the way he goes about it but wouldn't go too early on him.

I'm a big fan of Matty Roberts who got syndesmosis in the middle of the year and struggled since. His only knock is speed/running and his injury meant that he looked worse than he should in the back half of the year. I think he will be an absolutey steal and will be a top quality AFL player who will probably slip to mid 20s. I definitely think he is a better footballer than Draper but will get taken much later because of the question marks I mentioned.

The only problem is I'm not sure Geelong sees him as a mid or at least didn't 6 months ago. Hopefully they have changed their mind cause the kid can flat out play and despite looking sore and slow over the last couple of months is at least and average runner and is one the very best mid/forwards in the draft who has a lazer of a left foot.

I think draper could slide a touch on the night maybe to 22 if we are lucky.

I agree on roberts..i have seen him sliding in phantoms but i would very happily take him with one of our R2s if he is there

Good chance that your boy Stevens ends up as the better footballer too I reckon

I will admit my bias. But I do agree that the early signs with Stevens are very promising. Doesn't have the pace of Clark, of course. But all the other tools look very solid to set him up with a decent shot at a good career.

As with so many mid-range picks before him...IWWT.

It’s hard to read footy forums these days.
Far too many without a clue and in panic mode because we delist players who aren’t up to standard and upset because we signed a 30yo ruck despite losing a 28yo VFL player.
All caught up in the OTT reactions to us having an old list.
We have the equal most draft picks in the 1st 2 rounds this year albeit all in the 2nd.

Ceglar is better than Sav at everything, can play Stanley and Ceglar in same side
Ceglar is a better ruck than SavRat, no ifs or buts, anyone thinking otherwise needs to watch both. But as a Key Forward, I'd go SavRat, but its not by a lot. Its not like SavRat has been a consistent Key Forward, and Ceglar has mainly played as a Ruck. Go have a look at Ceglar's end to last season, when he was in the ruck, its a heck of a lot better than SavRat or Blitz in the ruck. I would say that Ceglar has better "tap" craft in the ruck than Stanley, but Stanley is the better overall ruck. Ceglar is a minor upgrade on Fort, but neither are brilliant. Its not a trade I would worry about much either, much of a muchness.

There is a reason 'fake news' has exploded... because it's true - media outlets will do absolutely anything to get clicks and engagement including straight up lying.. Because of 'freedom of the press' they have no obligation to tell the truth so instead say 'sources said' to remove any personal liability.
It looks this way doesn't it. It don't matter if its mainstream media, or alternate media, chances are its all clickbait, propaganda, exaggerated, or just flat out non-sense. I have to watch a bit of both, to try and get a sense of it.

I've seen it come up a lot, so here's exactly how our list stands at the moment.

Current draft picks (points)
  • 5x picks worth 2,873 points
  • 22 (845)
  • 30 (629)
  • 32 (584)
  • 34 (542)
  • 50 (273)
Gone from senior list
  • Kreuger
  • Jenkins
  • Jarvis
  • Taheny
  • Clark
  • Fort
Added to senior list
  • Ceglar
Gone from Cat A rookie list
  • Henderson
  • Brownless
Gone from Cat B rookie list
  • Okunbor
Uncontracted
  • Constable
Current senior list
  • 33 players
  • Stengle to be added as 34th player as DFA once Crows delist him 31 October
  • Max. 38 players allowed
  • 4x vacancies for players from national draft, upgraded rookies or delisted free agents (DFA).
Current Cat A rookie list
  • Close
  • Atkins
  • 2x vacancies unless we upgrade Close/Atkins.
Current Cat B rookie list
  • Tsapatolis
  • 1x vacancy
Would be good to bundle 50 and one of the picks in the 30s, to get up the draft board if we only take 4 national draft picks.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Roberts but he gives me Mitch Grigg vibes - a good footballer with elite kick, but maybe not athletic enough.

I cant see clark getting to the RD. WCE are right at the end of their window and they need plug and play mids. Unless hes burned bridges there by rejecting them this year they will take him with their last pick so we would have to take him at 34 if we want him i think. Our only hope is regan gets an earlier than expected bid and wipes out their later picks so then he is available.
There’s only room for one Clark, out with Jordan, in with Jhye next draft.

FoxDog are you ok mate? Charlie is gone told you Johnny wanted his number, you mite have to go to tassie if you want to watch Charlie from now
No point living anymore... you know that bloke who cry about Britney Spears saying " leave Britney alone" that's me about Chook 😿

Given Wells has said we're targeting MIDs in the draft, I really like the sound of this bloke. Can't see him in any phantoms or draft rankings, so I'm guessing he'll be available at our picks.

Source: AFL Draft Weekly Wrap: stoppage specialist Sheldrick a WA bolter
Sounds good re: Sheldrick.. but could be a case of man-child playing against boys given his body size, but who knows, might be very good indeed.

Petracca is only 186cm. I'm talking 190cm+. There's really not many that have been successful outside Bont, Cripps, Fyfe and Mundy. JPK is 189cm, could argue Hugh Greenwood (191cm) is decent.

There's been lots of 190cm+ MIDs taken early that end up being flops - Setterfield, Scrimshaw, Langford (some might disagree), Acres, Collier-Dawkins.
Joel Corey was one of the first good big mids I recall. Huge man.

Does anyone know if he is any relation to the former Geelong player Graeme Linke?

The main reason that most of them are flops, is they don't have great agility. No ability to feed through traffic if they don't have explosive pace. Cripps isn't fast, but he is very quick to raise arms and feed it out via handball, a trait that Menegola has. Bont, Fyfe, Mundy have just enough pace to get out of traffic.

Agree, I would’ve liked to see how he went against men but his senior team had three Sandover medallists so that was never going to happen.
