Next year is apparently the year for talls, so I suspect - given Wells' comments - that we'll be heavily mid focused this year, with a KPD like Alleer on the radar too

I think we may take a kpd as we will be very thin in that area if blitz gets injured but our other picks should all be mids or outside runners and focus on talls next year as its a better talls draft then imo.

I just feel that Wells will take what’s best on offer , you’d hope he keeps his word about focussing on needs only but we all know it’s folly trying to predict what he will do

Has anyone done a comparison of Constable to Roberts. I have a feeling he will slip thru to us. 2k time etc

Like him, but don't think I can take any more injured 'sliders.' Generally if they slide, they slide for a reason. Injury seems to be the worst reason, and one that has continually screwed us every time we've picked one

Id like to know just how flexible is Tsap? Could he be a def option? Id not startled to see us try hims there in the vFL, we did it with Neale.

Id reckon every year this late pick bargain thing comes up. Pretty sure it was said about Tarheny.

His kicking is a non issue. Technically sound just a rung down from elite and better than many currently in the hoops. If cats pass on him they will regret it

Knevitt’s kicking is far from technically sound. Ball drop starts at his nose.

We all have own likes and dislikes ..and I guess id pick others before him but a good 2k does at least say he is probably worth consideration.

What don’t you like about him? His U18 SANFL numbers were as dominant as it gets, played 11 league games too. Absolutely elite kick.

Yep...and in the 12 years since that 4 year period...?

For posterity, these are our first round picks since 2009:

2010 - Pick 15 Smedts - Fail

2012 - Pick 16 Thurlow - Fail

2013 - Pick 16 Lang - Fail

2014 - Pick 10 Cockatoo - Fail

2018 - Pick 15 Clark - Pass (can play, just didn't get the best out of him)

2019 - Pick 16 Stephens - Remains to be seen, but has been perennially injured and things aren't looking good thus far

2019 - Pick 19 SDK - Remains to be seen, but things look good thus far and is developing well - will probably end up being a 'Pass'

2020 - Pick 20 Max Holmes - From what I've seen thus far, looks like a gun and will be a 'Pass'

Things seem to have gone better in the last 3-4 years, and that seems to be because we're taking best available rather than someone who we took on projection rather than ability. Thurlow looked very good before he broke his leg, but Smedts, Lang and Cockatoo were definitely fails.

Not to mention guys like Fogarty and Constable in 2017 who we took at 22 and 36, who we saw as 'sliders' and took them...now they're both off our list just 4 years later. As Turbocat mentioned, Taheny is another who falls into this category, but wasn't as painful as we traded up two late picks to get him. Still a bust though.

Smedts, Thurlow and Lang especially hurt since even on draft night it was clear there were much better options.

What a shocking record that is.
