**** me I haven't watched much of Fejo jr but what is not to like. Pick this kid up cause he is good enough to play at the level very quickly I reckon. The only issue I can imagine must be his production because otherwise he would surely be talked about as a chance to go higher. Anyone know if his average touches are low ect?

Can't come in to Luca. He is a classic tweener for mine. Plays tall at school 18s level but will never be able to do that at the next level and not good enough aat ground level to compensate. He is like Jarvis but not as good in my humble opinion

We've had a couple of Raysons, Noel was a Coleman medallist in the 50s, and his father Arthur also played, but he apparently came from Cobden.

Not sure anyone in SA has watched him more over the last couple of years outside his dad Brenton and his coach than I have hahaha. Absolute ripping kid who before his injury was looking like top ten. If he slips to us please please take him. The only issue is that even in the middle of the year when he was flying I know the cats were unsure on him and if he would be mid at the next level. If that is still the case I very much doubt we take him at 22 but it will be a mistake if we don't. Can seriously play and as a bottom ager when still playing 18s last year he was putting up 34 and 4goal games on multiple occassions. I would be very surprised if he doesn't play 200+

Remember the 2009 Grand final? Harry Taylor in his second year was sent to Reiwoldt. Scarlett was still our best key defender but that matchup didn't suit him so we backed in a talented young player with plenty of help from our other mature defenders.

It's no different here. If SDK is good enough he'll do fine and learn on the job. This isn't the days of putting a guy on a key forward with no support. Henry is still our number 1 tall defender and Stewart is clearly our best player back there. The King twins are far less intimidating a prospect than Reiwoldt at his peak and they're exactly the types that SDK should match up well on.

This is the same as saying Shannon Neale should have played this year because Brodie Grundy played immediately. Development is not linear and a player not being ready to play on the best at 20 doesn't mean he won't be good enough.

That aside, there are also tons of reasons why this Taylor scenario is completely different to SDK: Taylor was drafted ready-made and not stick skinny; he had played senior state league footy (in a better state league than SDK got limited minutes in too); he had Scarlett and Harley around him who are actual KPD size (of which we would have none now if you move Blicavz up the ground - both in the senior team and in the ressies currently); Riewoldt being better in 2009 than the Kings now doesn't change that our backline matchups would be terrible; Henry suddenly being a KPD would limit his ability to roll off and help SDK; Henry himself isn't even that experienced and is still developing (albeit very well); our problems with centre clearances would result in SDK (and our other undersized matchups) to be easily exposed; you could get away with more as a defender back then.

I'm not saying for sure he won't be able to play next year either. I just don't think it's fair (or realistic) to put him in a position where he's the only one of key position height to play in our backline. We don't know how he'll develop yet.

Wouldn't get a game as a wingman? He made the AA squad last year as a wing/2nd ruck which is exactly the role I want him to return to.

I agree Blicavs isn't a player with attaching l attacking edge and he should be given a consistent role. He's played some good footy down back but he's played far more good footy in the ruck and around the centre of the ground. And we REALLY struggle on the defensive side of midfield which is his biggest strength. As we saw when he was played back this year it's almost impossible for any defender to look good if your opponents are moving the ball forward at pace and that happens a lot when he's not around the midfield.

How about I meet you half way and agree that if we had a better option at full back he could be a full time tagger given his size and endurance but I really don’t think he is an a grade wingman or second ruck. I also think he is a gateway drug to Scotty trying to get too cute and I would love us to not play hybrid wing, ruck, fullback positions

Give me smith or Duncan as wingers any day- Simpson as well

As for a ruck I’d prefer Stanley or ceglar over blitz

Defensive midfielders I’d prefer occonor or Parfitt but if you can trade us in a better full back then let’s try blitz as a tagger

But the hybrid wing ruck defensive midfielder fullback is not used elsewhere as a reason

Kicking certainly not his strong suit. Very clean below his legs and has good vision. Obviously good overhead. And can run all day. I’m not sure he’d be my first option at 22 but if he slides then happy to see us take him with a 30’s pick.
