Well colour me surprised that so many people think that Clark is worth higher than 27.

On the flipside, imagine how this forum would discuss giving up a higher pick than 30 for a player from another team who was continually overlooked for senior promotion.
People massively overrate picks ~25-35 when their club has to give them away. I would happily trade 27 for any player I thought was likely to be best 22. I would trade it for Brander for example if we had an obvious spot in the team for him.

It is true. Heard more about Scarlett last night. "Thrives on intimidation" was the expression used to describe him. Your typical bully. Was a polarising figure at the club. Glad he's gone.
I’ve heard similar. The “misfits” started out as a bonding exercise and turned into something quite divisive.

Swap Clark for Meek. Meek is a couple of months older than Darcy and likely stuck behind him for years. He's also a Victorian so coming home not dragging him away from home. If Freo want Clark then they can give us a player with time in the system and not a lottery ticket. Means Meek would want to move but I'd be going down that path rather than arguing over pick 25 or 27 when they have a four year deal on the table.

Meek just signed a 2 year deal at Freo

We hold the whip hand. If they want him that badly (4 year contract would say that's correct) AND he has a year left on his contract then they need to make an offer that suits our requirements.

The Cats haven't played hard ball in this regard. They value Clark better than 27 ... it's not like we are telling them 8 or nothing.

To be honest, if the rumours are true that Scarlett said he refused to ever play Clark in ‘his’ backline, I don’t blame Clark for wanting out. That’s a disgraceful way to treat a talented young player IMO and reflects very poorly on Scarlett’s people management skills (note: if true, as we only have media scuttlebutt right now).

Clubs like Richmond and now Melbourne talk about creating loving, supportive environments where even players outside the best 22 feel valued and have a clear understanding of what they need to do to get into the team. If we have treated Clark the way has been reported, it’s couldn’t be any further from the way the recent flag winners operate.
Great post 👏

And? Clark is signed with us.
Clark didn't just sign a deal with us

If Meek has only recently re-signed it would indicate he kinda actually wants to stay with Fremantle

Just like how with Guthrie recently signing an extension shows he wants to stay at Geelong and not be traded

I'd let Clark go for p27. We could easily find someone in this draft to play VFL and be an emergency every now and then, which is all Clark is doing now. We could potentially package picks to move up the order and get someone like Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera who would arguably offer more than Clark:

I thought he was tied to one of the SA teams through academy selection, would be very keen if not.

Incorrect. If Ollie Henry does a shoulder next year and we offer him a 5 year deal to come home good luck offering the pies pick 30 for him. It will require a pick probably under 15.

Coll we’re giving the boot studder games this year and Henry only managed 10. Does that make him less of a player? Absolutely not. If Jordan Clark played for North he’d have maybe 50 games or however many he hasn’t been injured for. He’d still be the same talent going forward.

I didn't offer up a fact for me to be incorrect on

I think the treatment of Clark is widely known around the AFL and I've barely heard of who Ollie Henry is. Clark has been in the system 2 years longer than Henry has too.

Also would like to pose the question of how severe the melts would be if we gave up a top 15 pick for a guy who has done a shoulder..

One of the big issues that is more of a factor for teams that have/will be in the top 4-6 is the development of players both at VFL level and the underage level. I know it is mentioned but I don't think it can be undersold the impact on players before they come onto the AFL system and then the lack of development by not being able to play a full VFL season.
The impact is probably over a 5 year or so period when looking at development lost over the whole period of time, it's probably negated with first round or top 10 picks as they will get AFL games and have enough talent and other attributes to work through it.
But picks beyond that are really impacted and not just the players who are just being drafted over the past couple of seasons but we can see it with players like Esava, Kruegar, Dekoning, Clark etc who for varying reasons would have really benefited from more VFL games to develop.
It's also another reason why we have looked to add mature talent who can deal with these challenging aspects or at least it's not a bad way for it to fall considering the circumstances if it wasn't a deliberate related choice.

Unlike last year, in 2022 its reasonable to expect that Collingwood would be bottom4, they will not trade that , and will probably be happy to let DeGouy go and max the comp pick... I suspect they do not let Moore go, that would be a little too aggressive but it's possible. I think they will trade later picks to ensure the Fr1 is not affected by going into debt.

What they want to trade for it is a who knows. Id have thought if Krueger is a threat to us as a PSD, we lose leverage about trading him. I keep hearing player do not like PSD and want to see their current clubs receive something. North V Rich for CCJ for eg. Its a bit silly to my mind, the players did not chose to be draft to their current club, once out of contract why do they have any allegiance but engrained mindset is not always logical. Would Krueger have any real skin in ensuring we get some comp?

Agree with all of that..i think psd is a last resort but in this case it would work so we lack leverage re kreuger..we have to take what we can get.

I never met Matthew but played footy with his dad John, tuff as nails and also an intimidator, wouldn't have classed him as a bully. Not supersized the apple didn't fall far from the tree with Matthew.A pair of flawed diamonds terrific players.

No nasiah is open draft but the way he has been playing lately he might go top 10 certainly should go late first round.

Our greatest leverage may be that they also want Lipinki and need picks. If The get ina barney with the Dogs and put him in the PSD they the have to trade for Krueger.

Does anyone remember Darcy MacPherson absolutely towelling us in a preseason game playing through the midfield? Played mainly as a small forward at the Suns, I wonder if we’ll look at him for a mid role.

I look at some of the delisted player, one would think we could do worse than looking at the younger ones for the VFL side. Have a look at them and if we like them then perhaps next year.

If he doesn't sign, and is uncontracted it might lessen him a bit but not by much. Forget hopes and desires. Till it's reported that he will not sign an offer at Collingwood, I tend to think a kid getting games probably stays.

Its an interesting point on 50 games at North.
