Weird. I thought the AFL said no to Port giving away all its Future picks? What changed?
They got other Future picks in to counter the Fr2 and Fr3 they traded out so it is like they just traded their Fr1

Any other club swapping 1 for 2 and 3 would be a win in my books. And Ports f1 next year could be good too because I don't rate Port.

I just expect they waste this to be honest.

Except it's 1 AND last seasons clear pick 1 for 2 and 3.
Trading 2 pick 1s for 2 and 3 is a huge loss (although in hindsight who knows how those players eventuate).

That is exactly the scenario.

I think we've reached the limit of our assistance ....... and patience with Collingwood. Those picks to them and we get something back, but I'm not even convinced we need / or want something back. Not like I think we'll use it.

People in here just need to accept that if it gets the Henry deal done then it doesn't really matter. Geelong would have let Sav go for a wink and a nudge anyway.

We probably wont use later picks due to list spots but we should pies for one as we can always flip them to futures. Ie 25 and 33 for henry and 41/50 (will come in after bids). 41 might be our 2nd of 2 picks at ND and if it isnt we can always flip it to someone for a future 3rd or something given we dont have many 2023 picks. Get value that way but get henry done.

In isolation i think given sav is a depth player 33 is overs and we are doing well to get that. Will need to rookie a mature kpd though.

He's been touted as the next Joel Selwood... 2 or 3 is a bargain. Should be Numero Uno
Touted as... What Selwood had was intangible. Selwood was a great midfielder, but never the best midfielder of an era. Selwood was the best Captain and that was because - he was who he was, he was brought up in a successful team with great Captains and leaders, he tasted success early and then it was ongoing, he had great support from coaches and from team mates. It was a goldilocks situation where the sum of all parts was greater than each individually. Selwood at another team would not have been as great.

Query:
If it comes to the crunch that O Henry nominates for the ND, does that then tie him into a 2 year contract?

He can put whatever price on his head he wants and whoever drafts him has to pay that.

If Collingwood reject that then it’s time for OH to step up and say he wants Geelong and no one else.
Don't even reckon he needs to say that. He's made it clear he wants to play alongside his brother. Any team in the ND would know where he wants to be

I think offering 25 & 33 is reasonable. Makes us look genuine and between that and the Krueger trade it sits about right. If Collingwood reject that then it’s time for OH to step up and say he wants Geelong and no one else.

That and the Kruger trade? .... Kruger we got put thru the ringer

With all these trade...its only in retrospect that you really know the real cost.

West Coast too. The hell are they doing?

I think the fact that 2 of the top 5 in wardlaw and sheezel are big flight risks spooked them a bit and they feel the later r1 gives them more options for locals like ginbey/hewett. But still they should have got an extra top 30 pick for downgrading 2.

Excellent, thank you!!
So if he nominates the ND, states a 1 yr contract

My next query, would that constitute 2 contracts & becomes an unrestricted free agent?

No not a free agent

I wouldnt trade sav until pies have agreed to do the henry deal otherwise just keep sav for depth.

I just have doubts on Norths ability to create a winning culture. Even getting Clarkson I had Norths ceiling of success at MAYBE a PF if they were lucky. Its a poorly run club, s**t facilities, small crowds, constantly sent to places like Tassie to play, and if you are talented after a few years you will get the option to go to a bigger club if you want.

Can't wait to see what careers North torch with picks 2 and 3.
There's no guarantee that Clarkson starts (or finishes) his tenure at North. You have to feel for North, as they just can't seem to take a trick.

There's still a part of me that can't ignore a very strong possibility that North end up down in Tassie on a more permanent basis. 19 teams creates an imbalance, and soaks up another pool of corporate support which will still be critical even with the new TV rights deal. It's sad if you're a North supporter, but it's not like they pull ok crowds at Victorian games anyway?

I was skeptical when Clarkson was appointed and nothing has changed. He was very outspoken in his support for a permanent Tasmanian side and I wouldn't be surprised if he took North down there and became the inaugural coach.

24 + 33 for Ollie Henry seems like a lot to give away for a player we don't really need. I'd rather swap them for a future late first for 2023 or two early 2nd rounds for 2023. At least we'd have something to take to next years draft to trade for a key position player.
I can't see Geelong throwing Henry under the bus it's not the way we have rolled.

After Ashcroft & Cadman...
Those mids ranked by Deore, Twomey etc etc... are all the same Tsatas/Clark/Wardlaw/MacKenzie/Phillipou/Hewitt/Humphrey.
Throw a blanket over them. Tsatas can go 2 or 3 or slip to 6 TBH.
Humphrey could go 3 based on his upside even Wardlaw could and probably should slip to 7-10 mark with his inability to get over a succession of hamstring strains.

WC want Buss?? Hewitt?? Do they think we want Buss, might trick them to pony up something ?
Yeah not sure.
FWIW i think Cadman is a beauty for a big forward that has a few strings to his bow.

Wardlaw wont get outside top 5 no chance.
Gws take cadman its why they traded for 1.
North take 2 of wardlaw/tsatas (maybe both to pair oakleigh kids) or sheezel. Ess take whichever of the 3 port dont take. Gcs pick 5 becomes interesting i think they want hollands but 5 is early...maybe they go humphrey or they trade back. Doubt they risk clark.
Clark will get to hawks at 6 its just a matter of if they let him through to us.
