It maybe good to be inactive in trade week if there is no affordable enticement. It reflects confidence in what we have, and may get later on.But Hawkins is the beacon up forward.
It's bad enough being inactive in Trade Week. The Club needs to extinguish this distraction
All I can say about the Hawkins fretting is that I am glad you've got a settling dose of relief coming in the near future. It maybe good to be inactive in trade week if there is no affordable enticement. It reflects confidence in what we have, and may get later on.
Not sure about that- can you elaborate? All I can say about the Hawkins fretting is that I am glad you've got a settling dose of relief coming in the near future.
I do hope we've told him we're going to find 4-5 choice games to rest him and unleash him on finals ala Dangerfield 2022. If Rohan has less interruptions then the same could be done for Cameron 3 games or so (only if he picks up another niggle).
I'm sure the careful management and rotation of 2022 was desired for 2023, but a disastrous run never made it possible.
Ironically it's the one problem that if he literally tried to run away from every day he would“He’s working really hard on his running capacity, we reckon it can be better,” he said.
“You’ve got to sort this stuff out, you can’t run away from it.”

"Hawkins re-signs with the Cats" is going to give you a flood of endorphins that I am jealous of.Not sure about that- can you elaborate?
why are you not endorphinised by that?"Hawkins re-signs with the Cats" is going to give you a flood of endorphins that I am jealous of.
Because it is simply expected to happen and it won't feel like any kind of bonus, relief or bullet dodged.why are you not endorphinised by that?
I don’t mean collective just individually.Other than swapping pick 8 twice - none of those are realistic
Besides, Hawkins is an UFA - no trade needed
Is this a serious question?Would you swap Grundy for Hawkins?
I don't see the need to draft a ruck this year but the ruck economy has changed quite a bit. Teams don't carry surplus rucks on the list anymore so it is not like back in the day when Cox, Sandilands, Jacobs and Mumford all came off the rookie list.
Gawn - pick 34
Darcy - pick 38
English - pick 19
Grundy - pick 18
Goldstein - pick 37
De Koning - pick 30
Taking Conway at pick 24 is basically the sweet spot to get a good ruck via the draft these days
I’m very keen on Collard from WA. Kicked two bags of five in the WAFL colts finals. Looks a Shai Bolton clone.

GFC may be using this distraction to offset our lack of activity in this trade period?Because it is simply expected to happen and it won't feel like any kind of bonus, relief or bullet dodged.
I like him too, but heard some murmurings that he's a bit of a flight risk?
Eagles NGA, so might just be trying to get past 40.
Good for you, and most here on this board, but I'd prefer to keep himWhen I look at it any of the names suggested for 23 over Esava I’m very happy!![]()

You’re kidding yourself if you think Rohan will play more than 10 games next year.Cameron, Rohan and O.Henry is enough marking power up forward.
I wonder how many games in total we get out of Stanley, Rohan (who I believe are our twin barometers) and Cameron. You’re kidding yourself if you think Rohan will play more than 10 games next year.

Good result. At worst, he’s good insurance. At best , maybe he has a renaissance.Out of favour Brandan Parfitt explored a move away from Geelong before recommitting to the club, and will see out his contract at the Cats.
The 25 year old is contracted until the end of 2024, having signed a two-year deal in August 2022, but has struggled to find a home in Geelong’s best side.
Parfitt only played nine games in 2023, a drop from the 17 in 2022 and 23 in 2021, having been pushed out of the midfield rotation with new recruit Tanner Bruhn and young star Max Holmes earning minutes in the centre square.
TLA player agent Tim Lawrence, who looks after Parfitt, said on AFL Trade Radio the midfielder explored a potential departure.
“We did consider that with Brandan, and I had discussions with Andrew Mackie about it,” he said.
“He’s not playing, where does it all sit, is this the right place to be?
“Just because there’s interest from an AFL club, it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily going to work well for the player.
“It’s nice to have clubs ring, but is that actually going to work well for the player?
“You then need to do a lot of research on where the list is at, where does the player fit into, where they’re heading and all those sorts of things.
“
We went through that process and we spoke to some clubs, but ultimately at the end of the day Brandan was really good, he actually said: ‘do you know what, if I left Geelong and went to 17 other clubs, I am no guarantee to walk into any midfield or into any team’.
“The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.”
Parfitt arrived at Geelong in the 2016 draft, with the Cats selecting the Northern Territory prospect with the 26th selection at the draft.
He averaged 12.7 disposals, 5.6 tackles and 2.1 clearances per game in 2023, having played five of his nine games as the starting substitute.
Parfitt was also the starting substitute in the Cats’ 2022 premiership win, having come into the squad with Holmes suffering a heartbreak injury the week before.
Lawrence said Parfitt was working on increasing his endurance, with his aerobic capacity a glaring weakness during his career so far.
“He’s working really hard on his running capacity, we reckon it can be better,” he said.
“If you’ve got a problem with the way you play or what you’re doing, it’s going to catch up with you again anyway.
“You’ve got to sort this stuff out, you can’t run away from it.”
Like the look of him but hard to see how we get him other than using the pick traded for Ratagolea. Unless we trade into another pick in the first 40 (which is possible) then I’d say he’s likely to head to WC.
