I just think that to simply state that anything 12+ will be useless is ignorant.
Personally, I still can't believe that the only way to judge a players future is simply how he presents at 17/18yo. It is still so immature. Some kids might have the physical ability, but may lack the mental fortitude to apply it for another few years yet.
I'm not sure I would not trade our Fr2 for 18. Based on us needing picks next year and the draft being mid strong next year id like to keep our representation in 2024.If they wanted 8, it'd be 15, 17 and 18 for 8 and a Future 2nd. The offers will be big on draft night.

They said on trade radio yesterday that a couple of recruiters have said they think there may only be 40/45 selections.I would say next year is where it will start getting back to normal, and then should ramp up in 2025 again. If only 50 kids are taken this draft as many have speculated, you'll know why so few clubs are wanting to take more than 2 or 3 of them when all is said and done.
Pick 8 is definitely the cut-off this year. After that it gets very speculative. I'd much rather one of Sanders/Curtin/Caddy/O'Sullivan than any two of the next group.

Neale needs games. It's time to roll the dice on himVery much so. Neale to my eye anyway looked much more dangerous in the late AFL game he played than he did in the VFL this year.
Neale even won the ball overhead.
In the VFL games he took most of his marks on the lead. AFL brings the ball in to the forward much more quickly and a lot more to the advantage of the forward.

For the record, while I didn't say 15/17/18 I did say picks inside the top 30, at leas hehNobody's saying every player taken 12+ will be useless. Some of them will make it. But the vast majority won't cause there are probably 10 less high level talents in this draft than in the average draft.
Between the lack of talent and the players going to academies you can probably add 15 to any pick outside the top 12 to get its realistic value in a typical draft.
Would you trade 8 for 30, 32 and 33? Of course not! That doesn't mean a pick in the 30s can't make it just that it's much, much less likely than a top 10 pick. Picks 15, 17 and 18 in this draft will give you access to about the same level of talent as 30, 32 and 33 would in a typical draft.
You can quote our club saying the same thing about Whyte at the same point of his contract
It's pretty simple mate we do not have draft picks to trade with.Plenty of talent around, Stephens would have been good for us, Harmes would have been good for us, Jordon would have been good for us, any ruckman would have been good for us, just because YOU dont like any of the players on offer doesnt mean they wouldnt help the team, i can tell you now id much rather Harmes in the side next year instead of Tuohy, he's absolutely cooked!!
Sampson Ryan?Yep. Neale looked a far better player to my eye in the AFL game he played late this season.
He even marked overhead.
In the VFL his main game in mat has I saw was to lead up. Probably sick of wobbly slow movement going deep into F50.
AFL presents to forwards advantage much more often and more quickly.
I like Lord. Even before his right place right time final , he showed sticky fingers in late season games and got under the ball a lot like the young Richmond ruck /forward whose name escapes me.

I can only assume that they did... But didn't believe us when we said no it wouldn't.They probably should've checked that pick would get it done before doing the terrible trade with Freo for their future first.
Take it to the bank.Sounds like OHenry last year.
I still expect it'll be done, and will centre around pick 24
we rolled over and coughed up the deal quickly. The last few years have seen a tougher approach from us... and I doubt we are the fav's top deal with any more. What a shame.
This sentence is a bit strange. You can't have both, can you? Which would you prefer? We just get robbed time and time again?
