Agree to an extent.I don’t doubt we’re interested in smith. But I’m not sure if we are willing/able to come up with enough to appease the dogs while he’s contracted for next year.
And I don’t know l if there’s anyone else available that will significantly boost us next year.
This post could've been made (maybe shuffle 2 or 3 player names from each list) after 2019, 2020 and 2021 and nobody would be able to tell the difference. The next years a grand final, preliminary final and premiership were achieved.Duncan, Danger, Hawk, 2E, Stanley, Guthrie. These guys are not gonna get better and there's a lot of pressure on the kids to elevate to next level but I don't think Bruhn, Clarke, Atkins Parfitt and Bowes are a threat to any teams and will get steam rolled again, unless we land Smith can't really see us doing to much better next year. We have one of the weakest midfields going around and we're still too dependent on Danger and Guthrie.
We do need one but none would be ready for next year.Again, we learn that gun key forwards are not the key difference in big finals.
We are in trouble against Collingwood next year. Our backline much to big to contain their small forwards
I would say small lockdown defender is a need
Any reason you're becoming almost combative? This is how much of nothing we got to talk about.
We are talking about Billy Frampton.
The dude is walking around laughing his head off.
I'll take 23 spuds if they play in a winning GF every day of the week.
Pies just won the flag and he is a premiership player forever.
They got the last laugh... everyone else, including us are losers.

More importantly, we need some other players to move past him for times in our best players/match winning performances (Danger was still one of our most frequent Brownlow and Coaches vote winners). The 23-30 year old crowd, I'm looking at you.As suggested above, but it is a big IF at present.
I hope Danger's finals media commitments have made him even hungrier for another tilt.
Bizarre comment. Pendlebury and Sidebottom remain hugely important for them and stepped up in those tight finals to get them over the line.Yeah but the numbers are misleading because their data is skewed by cox being 31 as is elliot, plus whe and sidebottom and pendlebury and howe.
As good as a lot of those players are only howe really plays in a key position for them at this point the rest are role players.
Whereas danger hawkins cameron stanley guthrie blicavs and duncan all play key critical positions for us and are over 30.
Coll also have better quality players in that crucial 25-28yo age bracket like de goey moore maynard josh daicos noble (i know he missed but he was crucial this year) mcstay cameron plus mitchell and adams pushing 30. Cameron is bog average but the rest are very good to elite. Whereas our players in the same age bracket really are only moc atkins kolo bews bowes sav jack henry and zuthrie. Apart from henry and atkins we dont have the same quality in the middle age bracket.
Only if he has improved. Was hopeless when I watched him in the VFLObviously Tom Brown from Richmond has connections to Geelong since his dad played here. He signed a contract end of last year until 2025. Does anyone have any intel on him? Is he someone that would potentially be keen to come to the cats in a few years time? I’m sure Mackie has his eyes on him. Hasn’t shown anything yet with limited opportunities, but was a first round pick in 2021 (the future pick we traded to tigers that landed us Holmes)
Bews is 29 years old (will play next year at age 30). At that age he more than likely bounces back after an injury-plagued 2023. We shouldn’t be throwing dirt on his grave just yet.We do need one but none would be ready for next year.
O'Connor is required in that role, or fast tracking Mullin, or hoping Bews bounces back.
O'Connor De Koning Z.Guthrie
Hill Miochek Elliot
Duncan J.Henry Stewart
Adams McStay McReery
IC: Mullin or Bews
Ginnivan

Yeah I didn't see enough to get remotely enthused...Obviously Tom Brown from Richmond has connections to Geelong since his dad played here. He signed a contract end of last year until 2025. PASS.

I had real concerns on him defensively. Leaks a lot of goalsI agree, he hasn't set the world on fire, but I think we are quick to judge opposition rookies, yet we rate our own so highly! Averaging around 19 touches and 4 marks in 10 games in VFL and showed a decent performance in his debut AFL game. If that was Murdoch this board would say hes Tom Stewart 2.0.
Not saying he is a requirement at the moment, but one to keep an eye out for over the coming seasons. I wonder if he was hoping to get drafted to the cats?
I think he's just been overtaken by better younger players. It's a lot of cash tied up for Port in him when player out of position like he has been. Like 6% of their cap on a part time mid rotation?Agreed. Wines was either injured or cooked or maybe both.
Little hidden gem there possibly in Rhylee West. Regularly played out of position (for obvious reasons), a definite breakout prospect if a club can grab him and play him as a mid.Why not lower the eyes a little? Rhylee West at the dogs. He does not butcher the ball as much as Bailey Smith and I believe wants more on ball time. Is a guy who looks to give everything when he plays.
I had no idea the IC spot is a grave. If he can't keep Mullin out it would be purely form-based. Regardless of Bews being in the team, O'Connor replacing Tuohy in defence gives us a better balance of managing oppositions smalls/mediums.Bews is 29 years old (will play next year at age 30). Would he leave though considering his old man's connection to the doggies, pretty big name at Whitten oval!! Doggies wouldn't want to see that happen.Little hidden gem there possibly in Rhylee West. What would the right offer be in Bulldogs eyes? Likely pick 7 and whatever Sav comp we get, I imagine.
Would that be win-win? It's a hefty price to pay but he does still have potential to be one of the best mids in the comp. He's not there yet though, so surely isn't worth two first-rounders + change.
Taranto went for 12 and 19, but had still achieved a bit more I reckon, and of course 7 is a step up from 12.
