Haven’t watched trade radio. But my thinking is that it is based on current player wages which on average don’t take into consideration the increase of the CBA. While free agency offers are made with the new cap in mind. So they are inflated and result in higher compensation then expectedMorris was going on about this? Whats his point?
If #23 or Duursma isn't involved in the Sav trade then another option is obviously Port's F2 (which clearly isn't good).
But Port now hold Freo's F2 which you would assume is gonna be better than Port's F2.
Still #23 this year is probably better than either of those F2's.
Duursma is an interesting one... He was an absolute weapon in his first season... Not sure if he can turn back time though and improve on recent years form.
23 is about right for Sav.
Not getting into the BS banter regards FS and Academy picks as they aren’t on the table.
ZZ Top come on down!!
Agree on how we have approached trades till now. Port have not made an offer to us yet and they are after Zerk-Thatcher and Sweet as well. They currently have picks 23, 38, 46 and 73. I think Esava is the best of the 3 players they have targeted but do not know if they share my view. Essendon always over value their players. I would take Duursma and a late pick as a trade.Geelong rarely if ever are not practical. Something is better than nothing. If Port are denied Sav... they have lost not but oppituniity...we have lost a player for the pick we refuse. They would do what they had to do to get 22. Adding a late future to it would be preferable than walking him to the PSD

What a joke. There is no way. He would play for us for nothingHawkins being thrown around atm of trade radio lol. Hasn’t signed a deal and they think it’s suspicious
You would think any delay more likely to be over Tom rethinking whether or not he wants to go on.What a joke. There is no way. He would play for us for nothing
If we take 2, or even potentially 3 picks inside the top 25-30 It's indisputable that we've rebuilt a large portion of our list post 2019.We absolutely have to lay 23 down as a marker.
It would ultimately mean we rescued a VFL player's career and the reward was O.Henry - as most of last year's haul would be back to us for 2023.
If one cursed season means we get to pick up a talented key position player AND another medium or midfielder around #25 then it almost becomes win-win across the board.
Throw Smith in as a FA 2024 and the rebuild had some legs.
They have played this trade period well.Just posted... Watson or Sanders?? Which one do the Dogs want?
THE WESTERN Bulldogs have landed one of the big assets of the trade period, acquiring Gold Coast's prized pick No.4 in a swap confirmed on Monday.
It has seen the Bulldogs trade their two first-round picks this season – No.10 and 17 – as well as their first-round pick in 2024 in exchange for the Suns' pick No.4.
The Suns have also traded the Bulldogs their third-round picks this year – No.46 and 51, both bumped back a spot by the Tom Doedee compensation pick – to ensure the Dogs have extra points to match a bid for father-son talent Jordan Croft, who is tied to the Bulldogs this year. The Suns have also traded their future third-round pick to the Dogs as part of the deal.
It leaves the Dogs in the sweet spot of the top-end talent, with small goalkicker Nick Watson and midfield jet Ryley Sanders likely to be strongly considered for the pick, which will be the earliest pick the Dogs have held since Marcus Bontempelli was selected at No.4 in 2013.
Problem with that approach is that we have 5 list spots to fill. We could promote Dempsey and possible Mullin from rookie list which would mean we only needed to fill 3 spots but all 3 picks would be at 80 odd and we have to keep those players on the list for 2 years. If we trade for multiple picks needs to be 2 second rounders in this year's draft. I would rather keep pick 7 and increase our chances of getting a decent player. Take our chnace's on the late picks.
Just posted... Watson or Sanders? I would say Sanders is gone.

Can they trade that though?
Current rules on future trading are that you can trade either your future first, or any & all picks from your future second on
Having traded their future first, are they allowed to trade their future second, or is it Fremantle's future second they're allowed to trade?

At 13 ?? lol... we are trading back IMO.Dogs will take the wizard i think.
Hopefully sanders gets to us.
We're going to be more than fine.Looking ahead, probably best case scenario from this and next season's acquisitions:
Season 2025/2026
FB: O'Connor De Koning J.Henry
HB: Stewart O'Sullivan Z.Guthrie
C: Bowes Smith Holmes
HF: Miers Cameron Close
FF: Stengle Neale O.Henry
FOL: Conway Clark Bruhn
IC: Atkins Dempsey C.Guthrie Stevens
Cameron, Stewart and C.Guthrie as the old heads following retirement of Hawkins, Tuohy, Duncan, Dangerfield, Rohan, Blicavs (he did start late and seems ageless - who knows) and Stanley. Maybe C.Guthrie transitions into Duncan's 2022 quarterback role. Bowes on the wing doing his best Duncan wingman impression. Dempsey rotating between there and half forward. An up and coming midfield with Atkins as the veteran. It might be fanciful to think we could land Stevens, but pick 23 whoever it is could be in that spot.
It's not a terrible looking side, even if the loss of star power is going to be inevitable. Maybe another big fish FA will become available.
How do the bulldogs always get s much high end talent...Just posted... Watson or Sanders? I would say Sanders is gone.

For me. It is a Great chance to get someone to over pay for 7.
And if we are really lucky someone to over pay for pick 11 or 13 as well.
Plenty of folk in the 15-30 range all much of a muchness PO.
If we can get 4 picks in the 18-30 range we have done really well.
They worry me a bit, I reckon they take Sanders.Dogs will take the wizard i think.

I think you mentioned earlier, but I agree that we're less likely to trade back if we've got 23.Our Pick will be Pick 10, not 13?
Not unreasonable to think that on a needs basis, if the Dogs, Hawks, Dees and GWS all don't want another inside mid, that he could slip to us.
Unlikely, but also not outside the realm of possibility. North will likely select Curtin and McKercher/Duursma, IMO.
If GWS select Caddy and Melbourne select O'Sullivan, as their boards seem to suggest, then there is a small chance we get Sanders. This is why I think we'll wait until the night comes before we do anything.
They worry me a bit, I reckon they take Sanders.
They've got bugger all coming through in the midfield, their young talent is invested in their forward line. So much so that they're trying to move some of them to the backline.
Smith is likely gone next year, and West hasn't come on as hoped. With Bont, Treloar, Libba, & McRae all in the twilight or approaching it, they need to replenish that part of their list.
