Yep, this is making an appearance here also, and probably getting more useful as the season draws to a close and this discussion ramps up

I have multiple times the subject of the two Duursmas playing together being talked about. I cnat see how Ess make that happen. If it was a real important thing... X would stay at Port and wait to see where is brother lands...

For Ess to get Z .... they would have to trade with the Hawks ... . Cant see it happening.

I reckon there's already a deal in the works, and I think that's how Reid gets done.

There's just a lot of rumours of Zane already being earmarked to be paired up with Xavier - so they need North's Pick 3 to make that a certainty. If all this happens, Hawks likely pick McKercher or Watson and Dogs pick the other 1 of the 2. That's when Sanders becomes a live possibility.

Nah it hasn't, just me spitballing and seeing how it could all work.

I think if Essendon finish similar again, that moving from 9 > 3 for a Future 1st and a nothing pick 30, isn't entirely ridiculous, IMO.

I suppose rather than thinking of it as a pick number you need to ask whether Duursma is worth 2 top 10 picks plus a pick 30?.

Reid though, I get it. I would move heaven and earth to get him to the club if it was even a remote possibility. He's not just the best talent in this draft, he's possibly the best talent we've seen since GAJ/Judd/Dusty etc. Can play all three thirds of the ground, and is dominant everywhere.

We've never seen anything like this kid before.

It goes so much deeper than on the field for them too.

They're a small club on life support, they need a poster boy. A guy who's going to be in the papers, get the commercials, and be the key figure in a membership campaign.

That was supposed to be JHF, and they stuffed that up. They haven't had that player since Carey really.

A lot of typical 'shinboners' since, but nobody that makes you sit back and go 'WOW'.

From a purely selfish standpoint, I'm hoping they don't get him. Reid's a Cats nuffie and a country kid, if he goes west we're every chance in a couple years.

Sadly, I reckon Norf come to their senses and sell the farm for him. Eagles take Curtin, and the draft unfolds from there.

At least the Dee's team that won the flag had already screwed up so many times that their priority picks weren't apart of it.

The Footy Gods sorted the whole thing out. They tanked, broke their club, got Roos in and started the rebuild 'again' so to speak in 2014.

They still tried to rort the system, but credit where it's due, their 2021 side was almost entirely built from 2014 onwards.

Hopefully Norf have similar and fall at the first hurdle again, so when they eventually do win one they've done it properly.

It may very well be a quiet trade period in that we just go to the draft. However I'm still not convinced there's not something that's been cooked up a fair way out and we'll see it land towards the end of trade week. Part of me thinks they'll try everything they can behind the scenes to land Bailey Smith and that the "no comments / we're not doing the deal" lines are merely the clubs way of protecting player and manger from the crazy media hype that would follow. Deal behind the scenes and make it public as late as you can.

No awareness of how much of a joke they are to the comp and how little they've achieved...which is why they require those PP's in the first place? Can't have both, d*ckheads.

It's actually nuts how they behave, and as I've said before, it's Richmond'esque in their inability to conceive of anything where it doesn't benefit them/frame them in the best light.

To have that much lack of recognition of the current hole your irrelevant club is in by trolling and saying 'you're just all jealous', and then act like the AFL didn't give your club enough to help them out of that current hole - is straight up bonkers.

I reckon he is. After Academy bids (not relevant in open order but still changes value to incoming club) - Pick 11, Pick 11 and Pick 35, or thereabouts.

Not cheap, but not entirely outlandish either.

With that said, apparently Dodo has 'tried everything', so maybe it's already been rejected or he's not putting the 1st on the table. Odd to walk away so easily though.

It does pose an interesting question regarding the designation of extra draft picks for future teams in this position. Is this now the norm for all clubs that ever come to be in the same position?

The precedent has now been set, before making any amendments to how the AFL designate picks for the sake of integrity, all clubs must be offered the same privilege the next time they need priority picks.

If say hypothetically in 20 years we are in the same position (god forbid) will we be afforded the same selection of picks or equal of?

I'm not sure they've thought that far ahead and I doubt it will remain consistent. Which calls into question the 'fairness' of it all even more so.

Maxwell had a giant chip on his shoulder as a Geelong boy being rejected by the Cats, when others in his school and footy group like Lingy / Scarlett etc were picked up. Think they were all Joeys boys.
