Fair doesn't matter at all... We might be aiming for something a little more lopsided in our favor... and so we should be.What do you think Geelong are holding out for then? Pick 24 is more than fair

Why would you settle for what some outsiders consider "fair" if you think you can get more and actually want more?
Why would you give a team that is in the hunt for a flag a leg up because people consider the deal to be fair?
So what was all of the hooha about him speaking to other clubs.
Bogus?
Only time will tell... But you don't get more if you just take what is offered and don't push for more. Can we get more? It’s not like we are gonna end up with a top 15 pick or something. Would’ve thought pick 24 was an easy no brainer. But im no list manager

As expected. Once it comes to draft night, I reckon they offer all 3 if it's still there. They'd want 8 so they can offer 2 and 8 for Reid, but it still wouldn't be enough.H/S saying that we have rejected Port’s pick as we believe it will be #29 on the night.
Also said the Roos have offered us two of 15, 17 and 18 for #8. Not bad but not amazing. They also have a third round pick which they surely won’t use that will end up being in in the low 40s.
There's a couple of clubs coming real hard at Geelong for Conway.
It's clearly a sign of the kids upside that almost every club we've spoken to about a contracted player, have all basically pointed at Conway as part of any deal. And clubs are making inquiries to get him out of Geelong regardless of any related or unrelated trades.

Pick 24 will be pick 29 after the Walter, Read, Rogers, Croft and McCabe bids. Recruiters are saying the draft is so shallow that only 40-45 players will be drafted. I personally don't think pick 29 is worth much at all in a 45-pick draft.
CS said he wants to keep Sav, so if we can't deal with Port, does Sav stay?
Or does he want out anyway
It won’t be all 3. If they come away from this trade period with only Reid, Dursmaa, and Zac Fisher whilst losing 2 First round picks next year (they were gifted), Ben McKay compo and their end of first compo this year then they have failedAs expected. Once it comes to draft night, I reckon they offer all 3 if it's still there. They'd want 8 so they can offer 2 and 8 for Reid, but it still wouldn't be enough.
No need to trade before we know who's actually available. Gonna be hard for those itching for us to do something though, haha. Over a month to the draft, and 6 days until trade period ends.

No I'm saying the 10th best kid in this draft is probably as good as the 10th best player in a typical draft. But the 15th best kid in this draft is probably as good as the 25th best player in a typical draft.I understand the logic ... but that a very big change. Which players are the ones that convert 15 into 30? Are you saying we have etn or so bids before P15?
Walter
Read
Rogers
Croft

Pick 24 in this draft will probably push out to around 30 and to be honest... It is not a pick I'd be drooling over.
Personally I don't want fair... I want to walk away thinking we absolutely robbed them of everything we could get... but that's just me.
he hasn't leftSav ain't coming back.
I'm loving that group, it's all coming together and from what we can see from the outside they've already got a bond that clubs pay 'Leading teams' to acquire. If he continues to build his body, he will be the centre pieceof the next successful iteration of our team. He looks like Captain material to me too. Keeping Knevitt around him will keep him in the team.
Mate if people want to talk about Lord and him in the hoops let them, you always claim all sources are crap and have no merit.I'll keep saying it, but Ollie Lord will not be at Geelong.
Let's find something else to discuss. I'm not even convinced the story has any merit, and it's come from one flimsy source with no confirmation from either clubs, player managers or the player himself.
Not sure why he'd even be a focus if we decided to extend Neale's contract. Not convinced on Neale but having both he and Lord on the list wouldn't make sense. And before people say Neale plays some time in the ruck..............No No No.
I'm more curious what the disagreement was about to begin with?Clubs enquired, but he rebuffed. Seems like he used Jenkins to push things along a bit more, as negotiations had stalled. Was never really going to leave, just a tactic. For what reason on either side I don't know, but he was a never serious chance at leaving.
As I said previously, much ado about nothing![]()
Hang on, hang on, you can't profess to have all this inside knowledge, and then tell everyone they can't discuss what multiple actual news outlets are reporting/discussing. If this was your own info and then we turned around and said 'I'm not convinced that this story has any merit, it's come from a flimsy source with no confirmation from anyone', that wouldn't go down well would it? It's a little bit much to ask us to only trust what you say, but then not trust what anyone else says - that's Trump'esque.
I agree that I don't think Lord will be at Geelong, as Port has no reason to let him go given he's in contract. I have no idea if what you've said is true or not, and have no reason to doubt you or the media report, as there has long been whispers that we are interested in him/we seemingly weren't interested in him at draft time. We obviously do not rate this draft at all, and think our end of draft picks will be enough to snare whoever we want given the lack of depth - hence why it's now being reported that we're wanting a particular player to fill a future need, rather than a speculative pick.
With this said, I reckon PO has got it spot on and this is just us doing our dance seeing if he's interested and then laying the groundwork for him to come home next year. If he isn't, we'll say 'thanks very much' and take a slight pick upgrade on 24 like the Jordan Clark trade. If he is and Port won't release him, then we'll say 'thank you very much, give us the picks and we'll see you next year Ollie.'
You seem to doubt anything that you haven't heard personally. Even when I posted info about Parfitt staying and being told he knows he needs to work on his transition and two way running, you still weren't convinced. A week later, his manager confirmed that exact sentiment in an interview and confirmed Parfitt was staying.
If you do have inside info, that's great and we appreciate it. What you can't keep doing though, is dismissing everything that doesn't align with your POV or your info. There are multiple different sources of info that appear through this forum - some from the media. some from talking heads with no idea, and some from genuine reputable insiders -, it's not your place to determine who or what any individual poster determines as being 'reputable' or not.
If it turns out to be BS, good job getting the inside word early and thanks for letting us know. If it turns out to be true and someone like Mack or Davies confirms it, then I'd hope you'd admit you got that wrong. This is a place of many different opinions and ideas though, and it's not for any one person to determine what we should/shouldn't be talking about - as long as it's on topic and not rude/personal of course.
TL; DR Let people discuss ideas freely, and have an open perspective yourself. After all, that's what this forum is for. Nothing wrong with disagreeing, but it's not your place to tell others what they can discuss - even if you think it's all BS. You never know, you might just learn something yourself.

I'm more curious what the disagreement was about to begin with?
Surely Tom knows at his age he's only getting a 1 year deal, so I doubt it's about contract length.
It was reported he was already playing for well unders this year, so unless they've reduced it by significantly more i don't know how pay would have been a big sticking point.
Only thing I can think of was plans for next year. Maybe the club said if he goes on, they want to manage him through the year and get some games into Neale? Hawkins hasn't been one to be 'managed' like the other senior players the last couple of years, maybe he wants to play every game if he's committing to play at all?
I'll keep saying it, but Ollie Lord will not be at Geelong.
