As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool

And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

Sounds like Rueben is well and truly in the sights of the Suns.
This might open the door for Bailey Humphrey falling into our laps.
Or allows us to use his availability to trade back a few spots and gain some valuable draft picks next year. Or an early 20's pick this year??
Live trading is gonna be a lot of fun me thinks.

He also said he wants to be at the G or Marvel every other week, playing in front of huge crowds. I wonder how he’d cope with a 2-year apprenticeship in the VFL.
Yeah that was one I missed off the top of my head.

Made for the big stadium crowds.

Good luck to the kid... Self-confidence is enormous (but very rare in this humble Australian environment).

Exactly this...

Just what I'm hoping for as soon as I heard GC flew off last minute to meet Ginbey and his family at home.

You don't do that If you have made your mind up on taking Humprey.

GC might want and see Ginbey as a more pure mid than Humprey who is more a forward/mid.

If Phillipou and Ginbey lob at #4/#5 it'll mean that at least one of Tsatas & Humprey will be available to us.

Possibly both if talk of the Hawks wanting McKenzie is legit.

Hawks also apparently very keen on the Poo (as are dons) and if the Dons take Tsatas, GC take Ginbey it'll leave the Poo there for the Hawks and Humprey available for us to take or possibly make a juicy pick swap with a team that is dead keen on Humprey (I want Humprey though).

Anyway, I'm not keen on taking Clark over Tsatas/Humprey/Allan... but if the club still wants Clark we could almost trade back 2 or 3 spots and be a real shot at landing him still.

Ginbey and the Poo going before our pick may open up some decent options for us... Or we just take Clark like most people seem to want and be done with it.

It's looking good for us though I feel.

Bring on the draft... Just want it over and done with.

I'd say he'd get a game pretty quickly at Essendon...and even Hawthorn... @SleepyHolow might take a little longer, but hey Holmes started a lot earlier than most expected. But i do love his confidence and his natural athletic ability... he'll be a good one IMO.

Geelong has confirmed today Irish player Oisin Mullin will join the Club as a category B rookie, moving to Australia to join his teammates for pre-season.

Mullin, who played this Gaelic Athletic Association season with Mayo, signed with the Cats at the end of 2021, however decided to remain home in Ireland for this season.

The Club, through Head of List Management Andrew Mackie and Recruiting Manager Stephen Wells, remained in contact with Mullin through the year and followed his progress during the Gaelic season.

At 22, Mullin is one of the premier defenders in Gaelic football and will be the Cats’ second player to join from Mayo with AFLW player Rachel Kearns also from the club.

So we have some spots available in our football department to fill. With Harry, Eddie and Simon moving on it will be interesting to see if we try and bring in more former players to fill those spots. With Matty Egan likely to replace Lloyd the head of development and medical are key roles for going forward
Harry’s moving on? Really??

I think we will take Clark... Grabbing outside mids through FA and Selwood retiring/Danger not far behind... It makes sense to add an inside mid..
Yeah.. I thought that way until i looked at who we grabbed over the past 2 years in Stephens, Knevitt, Willis, Kroeger, White, Bruhn and Bowes to all bolster our inside game... add Clohesy into that mix gives us 7 players under 24 with Parfitt it makes 8.
A player with versatility to play more than one position is a better option. A nice inside/outside player. Speed would be even better.

Cam MacKenzie
Mattaes Phillipou
Elijah Hewitt

With Ed Allan screaming Max Holmes to me. Why? As Denis Denuto said... It's the Vibe.

Ohhh in saying all that.
I think we are most vulnerable at key positions. Buss & Hayes look the most obvious ones.
But for me Josh Weddle is the standout here. Plays beyond his in-between stature.
Secondly i think there is a rare talent out there that could be the steal of the draft in 3-4 years time.
Harry Barnett is a unicorn of a ruckman that has barely tapped into what he has to offer. A rare diamond still uncut IMO.

Seriously if the Swans threw out 14 & 17 for 7. I'd take a Hewitt/Allan and Weddle/Barnett combo.
Anyway enough of that. Draft isn't far away now.

I worry that like toumpas his lack of contested game wont translate well to afl level. I also worry about his lack of defensive pressure.
That said someone in the top 10 will pick him im just not sure it would he us.

Its a fair point although that was the Duncan criticism. ..but Duncan was p28. Hard to gauge ...perhaps Mackie would fit that observation? I cant say Mackie was an inside beast. I think players attributes tend to come and go depend on the trends in the game. I feel the slight loss of value of the inside bulls has coincided with the game opening up. Right now .. id not mid someone with a Holmes type set of attributes...although ..Im not sure he is that either.

Any idea what his combine running is like ...if he is bu3 and around 6 and 1/2 for the 2 K then ...those are the numbers taht would interest us.

He seems to me a guy who can build a stat sheet. If he can still be running at the end of games ..then he would appeal to a lot of clubs

I do not mind confidence... but most of these guys have never played against someone better than them. How he copes with week in week out is my question.
Same way as Danger did i guess... they all, as in these high draft picks have to walk through that same gauntlet.
The surroundings/club/support staff and cast have more to do in helping that transition/coping with than the individual these day i think.

Yep... could be a Danger ..could be a Jordi Clark.... its whether that confidence is backed up by other aspects of your personality. One listens to Jyhe Clark .. listen to him talk about boxing ..and working his a off... one can just tell that the confidence is there but it tempered with absolute desperation to compete.

In the Blitz tradition ..... I will put the curse of turbo on him ..

He will be lucky to play one game.

Lets hope he follows up and proves me multiple B&F's and over 200 games wrong... and still counting.

He sounds like a few others tbh... Liam Stocker was pretty much similar in his mindset and desperation/dedication/want to succeed.
Want is a common thread, desire and dedication the same... outcome is what we don't know, until time passes for all of us to gauge.

Indeed. It's fair to say that Clohesy is really going under the radar...as is Northam. If we land all 3 locals plus Riccardi and Mullin, it will be a ridiculous draft period...on top of an already insane trade period

Low Flying? Maybe. Chlosey is at least being mentioned. Northam not but long term will tell if he has fallen to his tru spot or he was a low flyer

The feedback on Stocker is he was not willing to do what was required ...so not sure.

Sometimes players think they are doing it hard when in junior beating less talented kids. Its why I think sometimes Rookies end up working their way to the top. They nevr had delusions of grandeur

The is a very rare group that can come in and do it their way and make all look like fools. Im not even sure a GA sr would be able to do that in this day and age.

Takeaways from the AFL show

Jhye Clark said he firmly believes it’s down to 3 clubs. GC, Haw and us. They are the clubs with the most interest. Did a GC interview today again.

Cats went to WA this week to interview Ginbey. (Presumably popped into the other two’s joint as well)

WC highly unlikely to jump up a spot or two. Will let the draft come to them. StK though is potentially keen.

Closely’s manager confirmed he will be a Cat B next year if he makes it through however there is now a chance he gets bid on even before 40. Has had multiple interviews late this week. Said he wants it to be the Cats given “how much we have helped him” this year.

Tsatas says the 3 clubs he has dealt with the most is Ess, Haw and Geelong. Did an interview here this week.

Haw bloke gave absolutely nothing. Only bit of interest is that they have had offers to move down a few spots for an extra pick(s). You’d think that he to be the Saints. Says they don’t rule anything out.

Phillipou is Dangers long lost brother (media wise). He’s a bit OTT and cheeky but for a very young kid he’s already an incredible public speaker. No ums and ahhs. He’s actually very polished. It’s like he’s already played 200 games. He’s engaging, entertaining and has that similar banter with the hosts as Danger does. He already thinks he knows where he is going on Monday but wouldn’t say.

With Selwood gone on top of these blokes, we've lost a lot of talent this offseason.

It'll be interesting to see who we bring in/promote to those roles.

Talking of Danger... The Hump just resonate Danger to me...the way he talks and even looks to a degree. Probably my favourite interview.
