Yeah but.. pretty much cooked. He'd actually be a handy addition to our list.
Deadly by foot
Has a few weapons (of mass destruction)
And I reckon he'd "terrorise" a few opposition defenses.

I'd be happy to have Fort still on our list.Yeah, but Mannagh wasn't just the best ruckman in the VFL, he was arguably the best player in the VFL, and came off a frankly incredible performance in the GF.
I can't think of many mature-aged ruckmen who have elevated out of the state leagues and done really well. Meanwhile, Fort, Abbott, Stephenson...
Plus Spinks, plus Miles.. Any others?... is this a Mitchell White joke?

I think there's as much likelihood of landing Hussein as there is of TDK being at Geelong. We're not in on that deal - certainly not at the price STK are willing to pay. It's Carlton or Saints only I reckon.Yeah but.. pretty much cooked.
Miles is going some way back!Plus Spinks, plus Miles.. Any others?
Definitely a half-forward flank (who was, IIRC, built along Stewie Dew lines).David Haynes the goat
Regarding mid-season draft ruck prospects, Twomey shared this earlier this week in regards to one who reportedly been on the radar
In response to this news, someone suggested Essendon's main target even before Keogh got injured was Ajang Kuol mun - even if that's the case, Mun looks more a long term prospect rather than the mature ruck to step in as an immediate answer
From his 5 games this season, he's been beaten in the ruck 4 times, including against experienced AFL players in Darcy Fort & Ned Reeves, plus Essendon's own 19yr old rookie pick from 2023 Vigo Visentini had the better of their match up the other week

While Mun had a good game last match against the Northern Bullants, I'm not sure how much could really be taken out of that game considering how poor the Bullants have been - they were 1 point from their third 100 point loss this season from just 5 games, and sit comfortable last with a percentage of just 35.4
So if Essendon who are seemingly going to be relying on 36yr old Goldstein as their ruck for the foreseeable future, are looking at a 21yr old ruck prospect for support who himself got beaten by a 19yr old already on their list, that gives a fair indication of what's not available in terms of second tier ruck options

Reid - Rowell - Butters - Cadman. Land one or more of those names and we'll all be pretty happy. A mate of mine is strongly involved at Hawthorn and he reckons Reid only has interest in Cats or Hawks. Butters to Dogs seems to be the consistent message but it makes his property purchase seem at odds with that - maybe setting himself up for life post footy back home.
Remember how the media sold the Jezza trade. “First ever side to give up three first rounders.” Meanwhile we got two second rounders not far removed from two of the first rounders coming back but they left that out.
So yeah, I agree doing a deal like this would be a good sell for the media and the fans, which helps Eagles stomach it. And if Reid chooses us as others have mentioned spot on, the deal doesn’t get better next year.
This is why I’m so confident in this deal. This is why Twomey opened his spiel about it only mattering where Reid wants to go. Not the picks, not the cash.
Same with Ryan Daniels implications.
And us being in the box seat this early fares very well.
I feel very confident with us making a bold move like this, especially with our track record for late first round picks being patchy at best.
Not everyone is motivated by money - surely that's been evident by the number of players who've rejected the mega deals St Kilda has put to them
I'm not saying that TDK will be at Geelong next year, just that for some they'll look at the whole package, which will include off-field factors of lifestyle, then there's on field prospects etc, and the money then fits in around that
As for Butters - we've got some pretty confident folk that he'll be in Hoops following his time at Port and they've been saying that for 12 months. They're also posters who won't exactly speak out on those issues unless they are all but certain of their news
Guess it's all a waiting game now to see what happens

Port got away with murder on that oneWhat did port give north for JHF?
That's around where Reid trade value would start
Drafting interstate players is always a flight risk and clubs know this.
Pass on the father sons though. Just too many off field issuesHe'd actually be a handy addition to our list.

I was surprised we took Pike ahead of Kuol Mun. But realistically if you pick up Kuol Mun you're looking at 2027 at best for him to become a competitive number 1 ruck if everything works out.
Conway was monstering guys in the VFL last year but was beaten handily when he stepped up to AFL level. It's just such a massive step up in quality.
Pretty sure she said that GFC didnt do enough to helpBit overstated. She basically just said she needed to get home
At least his son in law turned out ok and played a few games at the Cattery.Miles is going some way back!
She also said that in the context of Geelong not really knowing how much support was required because it was a pretty unique situation.Pretty sure she said that GFC didnt do enough to help
And that's where we start tooPort got away with murder on that one
They are on good money wherever they go. They can afford to factor in lifestyle and other things into their decisions. Playing along side brothers etc.Its all so much money … id think id just pick what makes me the happiest ..and id look to secure my future while still keep a degree of self determination. I like the deal that is propossed for Butters. If I were Tdek ..and Im really happy at the Blues id tell Carlton ..I want that type of deal… gives him 2 years to UFA plus the option of another 6. He gets injured or feels like he needs to secure his future he just signs at the Blues till ..forever. 2 years ties into Tasmania when players who are open to it could just about name their price. Might be the only way the brothers might pay together..if Sam was interested.
If Butter s really only wants Geelong..then the two year deal at Port might be good. Means he too will have options when they are adding guys for Tas.
Who?At least his son in law turned out ok and played a few games at the Cattery.
You can't put a price on the playing with family etcThey are on good money wherever they go. They can afford to factor in lifestyle and other things into their decisions. Playing along side brothers etc.
