A topic best left alone I reckon Dave. Commenting on indigenous matters is risky at the best of times, and this matter looks like the worst of times, especially for Liam Jurrah.

Well it true

yeah maybe, but why here ?

seriously dave, unless the board has suddenly become 'the pies socially conscious board', the life of a former demons player has no place here.

Played for our VFL Side before he went to Melbourne

All the talent in the world left to a geniune bad person. who knows, maybe Jarrah would still be on a list if he werent drafted by Melbourne, or maybe he would have never played a game if he wasnt drafted by Melbourne, we dont know these things obviously. either way, this is completely pathetic for some who apperently was keen to make a return to AFL. Jarrah has got to have issues of some kind if not, brain damage.

He was on our VFL list. Rupert Bretheras discovered him and recommended him to Collingwood.
He played half a season for us in the VFL & went back home.
As I understand we stuffed up some paper work and did not recruit him because of that.
Melbourne jumped in and beat us to him.

We should not judge him because he comes from a community with a totally different lifestyle.
When he came to Melbourne he could not even understand English properly & had problems with communication.
Obviously alcohol is a problem and it makes him behave badly.

Would like to have seen him on our list initially perhaps with some social support and guidance.
I think he is one of the biggest ever wastes of talent.

We're not going to start a thread for players we're glad we didn't draft are we? There are/were a lot of duds out there (read: The Carlton list)
Beat me to it.

In before "glad we didn't draft Jamie McNamara" thread.

tbh i feel more sorry for him than anything. by all reports he was an idol in his community before he was drafted and hes just fallen so far after verythingthat happened. poor blokes life is in tatters and its officially irreparable.

in saying that, beating your wife is absolutely inexcusable

Nearly killed his cousin with a machete, has bashed his wife numerous times, regularly charged with serious driving offences, plus I'm 100% sure lots of other terrible things that we don't know about

Liam is the real victim in all of this :drunk:

im not saying hes the victim haha. we cant presume to understand tribal customs regarding the machete incident so i reserve judgement on that. but i do remember that up to that point in time he had been totally out of all the headlines and then he was publicly suicidal. and now his life has gone to sh*t. so yeah hes not the victim but the guys life is wrecked and i think the whole things been a sad spectacle

Like everything with recruiting. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
