Sounds of silence? After a shaky start to your relationship, you two are turning into Simon and Garfunkel
Yup, not enough frustration in here for the sh***y inconsistent umpiring.
Umpiring was absolutely disgraceful and pathetic last night.
The margin at the end of each quarter: 3, 2, 1, 0.ODD: Brisbane won 3 quarters for a draw.
Goodness, Stan the Statistician from Stradbroke Island is right now fumbling for his record books!!!The margin at the end of each quarter: 3, 2, 1, 0.
Stan's a bit slow then. SirSwampThing has already confirmed it's the first time its happened.Goodness, Stan the Statistician from Stradbroke Island is right now fumbling for his record books!!!
bEcAuSe We NeEd BrOdIe SmIfFCan anyone give me a single reason why Chayce Jones is better value to us on a wing rather than in defence?
True, but Fog should have gone for the intercept (and did). If he was half a metre further forward or back it's either knocked forward and we get a goal, or the brisbane player marks it and play is held up. Not his fault our half forwards let Payne (?) run 30m forward, or that our defenders wouldn't be anywhere near their opponents. We had the game won. Bris were gassed. The switch which was nearly intercepted made them move it fast. Or else they keep going slow.
Probably for being one of the best players on the ground. And if you don't think so, you weren't watchingHe’s not now, and has never been all that he imagines himself to be.
Fogarty will of course get coaches votes
Technically it's probably there. But if they paid those regularly, Clayton Oliver would give away 10 frees a game and the Bulldogs wouldn't have won the flag in 2016.Laird has done those little throw/handballs since his early days and mostly gotten away with it.
Annoying as there was no need for it in that moment, could have gotten a regular handball away.
The umpires finally pick up a player for a dodgy handballLaird has done those little throw/handballs since his early days and mostly gotten away with it.

The problem is that the umps have been letting those go for years, especially against us it seems. So they choose that defining moment to actually apply the rules! Astounding.Laird has done those little throw/handballs since his early days and mostly gotten away with it.

Soligo got done for one too.The umpires finally pick up a player for a dodgy handball

I'm sick of being dudded constantly AND in critical moments.
Time to get angry Crow fans.
Good: Dawson, Rank, Fog, Keays, Sholl
Mediocre: Soligo - Defensive Half Pressure was WAY down on last week
Bad: Overuse of handball, particularly out on the wing. Laird and Crouch. Cook, Butts, Keane, Nankervis, McHenry, Jones.
Ugly: Umpiring. The absolute melts on this board about the Curtin sub.
- We're clearly being told to lock the ball down at every opportunity, but the job is being left to half a dozen individuals, instead of us having a consistent spread across the ground. Of the bottom 20 players in the game for Pressure Acts yesterday, Crows had 13. Having players like Cook, Hinge, Jones applying less total pressure acts than Walker & Fogarty is criminal. As soon as the ball left the stoppages our pressure really fell away...
- What hurt us was that, unlike against Port, Brisbane were able to get out of the contest and put in good/decent forward entries (and more entries than us), although some of the umpiring around the contest that allowed Brisbane to get out was deplorable. Their experience and bigger bodies just out-muscled us and we got smashed in the contested marking numbers. Losing Worrell was a massive loss, as he's really the best contested option we have down back.
- We were atrocious going I50. For a team that's struggling with total I50's at the moment, we really need to make them count. So many times we didn't kick it to a F50 advantage, or had an option that was closer. Even Dawson was poor with this a few times. Sometimes we had players 10-15m away running WITH the player holding the ball, but we seem to have tunnel vision to want to kick it to a contest at the moment, just aren't opening up our field of vision or lowering our eyes.
- Curtin needed to be subbed, he was playing as a HB and had 23 metres gained and 5 possessions to half time. Just looked out of his depth, and was targeted several times by Brisbane. And those thinking he'll get some more minutes with Worrell being out are going to be sorely disappointed. Has played as a KPD in the SANFL and is only developing in that position even at SANFL level. Borlase will 100% come in for Worrell. Deal with it.
- Nank as a sub was an odd one. Has looked sublime on the wing this year but looked lost at times trying to work with Sholl off the HB. Too many times they both got confused with their positioning and the ball went out behind them to Brisbane's goal side and they were out.
- Crouch and Laird handballing to opposition players. Happened too many times for it not to have been a Brisbane strategic decision to suffocate the ball getting out, but very poor from those two.
- The ball drop, Brisbane frequently had players both goal side and defensively in better positions/anticipating where the ball drop would be at the marking contest.
- Go have a look over at the Brisbane board, for anyone melting here. There were elements to our game that were poor, but a lot of their supporters think that was probably Brisbanes best game of the season. They have depth, and their age profile means they have a lot of mature experience there to fill the void. We're also not without key players. Last years Grand Finalists are back into form, their run and carry was hard to stop at times.
Playing Curtin deep and accountable was dumb coaching, the sub was the reaction to his poor performance in that roleThe Curtin sub was dumb coaching.

It's pointless playing him as a KPD, he didnt even really stand out at SANFL level in this role. The Curtin sub was dumb coaching.
Just did the quick mental arithmetic, since the start of 2023 we're 2-7 in games decided by a goal or less along with yesterday's draw.
Bad luck or something else?
