PHEW....

Hopefully now goodwin can make it to the brownlow without another report

From one angle I saw on replay it looked more like Wells was diving but still you are never sure with the tribunal

Neither do I (I never saw Edwards doing so well last year and he almost stole it so you never know) but just in case, makes the brownlow buildup later in the year more interesting

I heard he got a reprimand... does anyone know the details of the charge? (eg. number of points)

Obviously lower then 100, but yes something like that according to the main board. No idea the details though.

56.5 (didnt hear clearly so the decimal point may not even be there) I think according to the clowns on 5aa

75 is the max according to them if they fight it

Should definitlely fight it. Nothing in it at all.

I agree.

Thanks to ch 9 for blowing it up out of all proportions and highlighting it when incidents like Ladson and Brown jumping head-on into our players going for the mark were praised as heroism the week before.

Do they have an agenda, I wonder?

Actually, the more they replayed it the more the commentators came to the conclusion that he didn't actually make contact. They thought he should have been charged with "attempting to trip" but not "tripping".

Adelaide star Simon Goodwin remains eligible to win this year's Brownlow Medal despite being booked for tripping by the AFL match review panel on Monday.

However Goodwin, the second favourite for this year's Brownlow behind Eagles skipper Chris Judd, remains eligible for the game's highest individual award as his charge was deemed to be below the 100-point cut-off for a one-match suspension.

Goodwin was charged with a level one tripping offence on the Kangaroos' Daniel Wells, which draws just 75 demerit points.

By pleading guilty and accepting the charge, which Goodwin has already decided to do, he will receive just 56.25 points towards his future record and will be free to play in this week's blockbuster clash against second-placed West Coast in Perth.

The decision is a major relief for the league leaders, who can virtually secure top spot with seven rounds remaining if they beat the Eagles this week.

^^ I am surprised, but if you hear the way Goodwin spoke about the incident, it sounded as he knew he had made an error, and was willing to accept that he did something wrong and is ready to move on.

Simon Goodwin attempts to (or does) trip Daniel Wells. Channel 9 replay this 15 times from 8 different angles and he gets charged by the Match Review Panel.

Joel Perry uses Rhett Biglands as a punching bag, with strikes to the body and the head, off the ball. Channel 9 replays this once, and the MRP ignores it.

Why do we even bother with a match review panel when the cases to be reviewed are apparently decided by Dermie, Gary and Dwayne and their producer?

I don't think he will win the brownlow either but i want him to have every chance to do so.

good post - I have a major problem with this.

The answer is....

Joel Perry + Kangaroos = who?

Simon Goodwin + Adelaide = attempted tall poppy assasination.

As the game grows exponentially in so many different areas - the Match review processes and tribunal consistency continues to bring the game into disrepute...........they should actually charge themselves.... :thumbsd:
