Well at least post some numbers please.

Or a graph of the top 5 ever or some evidence.

Can’t remember exactly, but it’s a stat that Gov has led 2016-18, Easton Wood led in 2015. There was a Brian Lake one on there from 2008 - not sure if that is how far back stats for this go, so it’s probably a pretty rubbery record I reckon.

Pretty sure Gov held the record with 76...and now holds the record with 77.

Gov is awesome but it's a bit of an overrated stat given how often teams play a spare man in defence.

I'm more impressed he is #1 for contested marks for the second year in a row playing in defence. Only defender in the top 10 (Cale Hooker has played at both ends and is 8th).
You forgot Maj

It looks roughly like:
#1 McGovern - 2018 - 77ish intercept marks
#2 Wood - 2015 or 2016 - 75ish intercept marks
#3 and #4 McGovern 2016/2017? - 75ish intercept marks

It's such a midfield weapon for West Coast, their mids and high forwards know to start leading into space as soon as the opponent has kicked inside fifty because they won't be involved in that play anyway but if their team get a mark they will be in position and free to transition to attack quickly.

How do you do defend it? Tell your mids to play tight man on man when you're kicking inside fifty. You'd think it would be easier to not kick long inside fifty and take Jeremy out of the game.
