Re: Graham Pollack hit by a train

A couple of corrections, but it is Polak and was a tram.

Bloody hell! I was at the game yesterday showing some interstaters the G. Thought he did ok.

Terrible news. Wish him the very best. :thumbsu:

Re: Graham Pollack hit by a train

Luckily it wasn't a train. Jeez, seeing the this thread title before anything else would have given some a bit of a fright. A mate and I were walking down dandenong road and saw the ambos treating someone last nigh, saw richard tambling too, even though my mate said i was wrong. Must say that is not a pretty intersection for accidents. Quite a few accidents involving trains and cars have gone on there over the years, with a number of deaths.

Re: Graham Pollack hit by a train

It happened right outside my house!!!

I live right on corner of where it happened but I wasn't there last night, tripped out majorly when I heard where it happened... I don't even know how it was possible, the trams don't even go on the road there only the median strip in the middle, and where the crossing is they slow down/stop...

He must have got hit pretty hard too to be put in a coma...

Must have been pretty blind or assing about for that to happen... you can see them coming a mile away...

Someone said on the radio that they were running to catch a taxi. They managed to dodge a car, but he mustn't have seen the tram. I heard it was a medically induced coma. A tram doesn't have to be going too quickly to do a lot of damage. This morning they were hoping to be able to bring him out of the coma today, but that doesn't seem to have happened. A terrible shame. God help his poor family.

was crossing the road to his house after exiting the taxi, missed the car not the tram.

They said he was imrpoving but they decided to give him more time in the coma, which is better than waking him to early and having to re-induce him. Which is difficult and thrawt with danger

My thought are entirely with the family and i couldnt help but feel ashamed for the journalist and reporters that were hanging off his mum and family, have they no shame?

Get well Graham

Yes, we saw that on TV. It was shameful to follow that poor woman in her misery. Bad cess to them.:thumbsd:

Oh I see. Yeah that could be possible because a couple of times I have waited on one side of the road there for a taxi and noticed one coming out of the way so did a bolt across the road and it is a busy road so maybe he slipped his way through the traffic and overlooked the trams...

Real stiff because I have stood at that tram stop late at night on a weekend and been waiting nearly an hour to sight one... seemingly took him a millisecond!

Do they expect a full recovery?

I'm still in shock because it happened literally outside my front door...

Re: Graham Pollack hit by a train

I went to watch Carlton lose yesterday and froze. What's worse the bastard's won. Watched Polak play and wake up to hear what happened on the news.
Hard to fathom. I just hope the kid did not sustain permanent brain damage. Football is the least important thing at the moment.
It would be great if he made a full recovery.
Good Luck and Best Wishes Graham !

A medically induced coma is used as a protective measure against rising intracranial pressure, or swelling on the brain. As Polak would probably be in a lot of pain from his injuries, and likely stressed and agitated, this could contribute to the pressure within the confined space of the skull.

The Richmond doctor said that Polak has not had an increase in the swelling around his brain, which means the coma is doing it's job. When they feel the immediate danger of increased intracranial pressure has passed, they'll wake him from the coma and assess him. Hopefully he hasn't suffered any lasting damage from the impact.

P.S. I edited the title for those who were wondering.
