3rd calf for the day and the one that needed pulling, typical its the one that goes into labour as its getting dark, would have liked for my first calf i ever pulled to be in better circumstances but its done now, nice to be cleaned up and inside. also very good that we bought a puller beforehand, i knew that when it would be needed it would have been when all the rural suppliers were shut! dont think i will get to sleep in a hurry ,had a bit of Adrenalin pumping.

Helen buys a grain feeder for the chickens to save grain as the idea is the flap only opens when they stand on the tread. Well a week in silly chickens haven't figured it out but the galahs have and they have cleaned it out. So much for that idea.

****en Cockies, Galahs, Corellas😡

Bloody pests.

Smarter than chickens it would seem. Corellas used to really annoy me at our old address. Used to strip the Avenue trees of their seeds in their hundreds. Then stop traffic on the road getting the ones that fell below. The constant tooting from drivers to scare em off was just as annoying.

Yeah, they gather in their 100s here too. Stripping trees, digging up nature strips. They destroy our cricket ovals.

Someone heard that if you find a dead one, spray paint it pink and leave it on the oval and they wouldn't come near it. We found one that had been hit by a car and did exactly that, unfortunately we came back the next day and a bloody fox took it.😁

We have a similar problem with some young emus here though it is quite funny watching them using their toe to open the feeders

Dunno what the deal is with corellas. I reckon we hardly ever saw em 10 years ago and longer but recently their populations at least locally has exploded. Cookies and galahs on the other hand seem to be similar numbers as I can remember.

Crows: Leave a dead crow out and they won’t come back for a very long time

There's your solution. Get a pet fox. Put him in the chicken coop to guard the chooks.

And you country blokes reckon you know it all.

Simples!!!

Green acres is the place for me, farm livin' is the life.......

70's prog 👍 What's playing SOS ?
Diverse range, from Sweet (album tracks) to Midnight Oil (first two albums). I am happy with 70s music and 80s Australian pub bands as well. A bit of UK punk rock, some new wave and a small amount of American stuff, although that in moderation (except Beastie Boys, which can be played on my turntable any time).
