I have no idea why some of you are bagging Whitlock. Whether he was ready is a debate for later this week but some, not allll, of his disposal under immense pressure, was the highlight of what was the worst night in many a year, of supporting this once-great club. Let's be real.


That and seeing LDU fight his way through a decent tag to have a standardish game, were probably our genuine positive takeaways (maybe add Sheezel regaining some 'lost' touch) out of the dumpster fire.

We're at a point where professional sportsmen aren't expected to emotionally invest in their teams. I'm the first to ridicule the 'woke' rantings, but this is an area where those people absolutely have a point and should not be shouted down.

Without nuffies and irrational emotional investment, sport becomes an exercise in moving an object around a clear area. That's all. Nuffy-ness is what leads to jubilation when your team wins, dejection when your team loses. It's the reason for the AFL's crowd numbers. It's the bedrock of the game. It's what Roy Keane harvested during his team's wildly successful heyday. It's what captains of bygone eras in this sport emphasised time and time again, and sure, it crossed the line at times with the biffo, but we now have multiple field umpires to take care of that.

Without nuffies, the game becomes a sanitised money-making exercise. And if LDU and Larkey are laughing after a game like that, then maybe they're very content for it to be a sanitised money-making exercise. And as such, they should be fired into the sun, and a search made to source players who are actually willing to emotionally and physically invest in the jumper

The message needs to be sent. At the moment there is no consequence for the lack of defensive accountability some of our players have. The players know they are playing next week, so they don’t give a ****.

If it means we need to play spuds that are willing to work hard until these so called talented players get the message, then so be it.

Currently there is no repercussions for half arsed efforts and lazy ****s.
