Our group is so weak willed and insipid, there will be no response. The last few seasons have been the same - a couple of OKish performances to start, then the reality check, then the meltdown and then the season is stuffed.

Expect 6-8 weeks of shite now, then we get excited over a couple of wins against other crap teams and maybe an honourable loss or two, before stinking up the last month and finishing bottom 3 with 3-4 wins. The Gold Coast are flying and will feast on us.

It does not look great, but we are losing in any event, so in some ways you have nothing to lose.

This week I would demote Stephens and RHJ. All good teams need outside runners, but you still need to be physical in the contest.

After the GC game, I would look at the forward line and think about 1-2 whom we can drop and replace from the forward line.

And so on each week, until we see what works.

I don’t watch VFL, but I think that we also need a tall to play ruck / forward minutes to give Xerri a proper rest. I thought Teakle was okay last year, but I am not sure how he has gone this year.

For me, there just needs to be consequences for a team that serves up bad losses - at the moment I don’t see that happening.

I will say that first ruck free against Xerri was so farcical as to be considered suspicious.
The umpire asks Xerri to give Grundy a metre at ball up. Why X has to move, rather than. Grundy, is anyone's guess.
Following ball up 10 seconds later Grundy is clearly leaning into Xerri, who is standing up perfectly straight. Ump warns Xerri to move away twice and then penalises him.
Grundy was clearly the one encroaching on Xerri's space. So how ump decides X is at fault defies belief.
Never seen it before. Draw your own conclusion about the decision making by the ump.

The best part of the game was when the siren went and Jy had them in a huddle before going into the rooms and the post match interview with Mooney...absolutely showed not just his distain, but his anger that we played like the 'old us', no such and such had a good game blah blah...the very first time l've seen Jy's leadership and absolute disgust in the teams performance.

This game captures so much about modern football and what it means to be competitive and then successful - two way running and workrate nothing more nothing less - you just can't turn this mentality on or off!!

That stagnate football we played tonight can only work if you have elite kickers that pin point hit their targets from a dead spot and the last time l saw that was the Hawks premiership teams and we ain't those sides.

This list is good enough talent wise, to win games and it's now a mentality pure and simple...stuff like that Daniel turn over with 40 seconds left should not be tolerated from a 'senior' player that we basically gave a a future first, either drill that pass or don't kick it at all

You could see Jy getting absolutely filthy with the boys in the last 10 mins, but then go ahead and turn it over three times in a row with a shocking kick. Jy has to lead from the front if he's going to be an effective leader. Words dont mean much when you dont execute the basics.
