Inaugural captain Amanda Farrugia will lead the GIANTS’ AFL Women’s team into their second season with star recruit Alicia Eva appointed as her deputy.

Farrugia was officially named captain for the second successive season following a player vote, with the 32-year-old from Seven Hills earning great respect on and off the field during the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s competition.

“It’s obviously a real privilege,” Farrugia said.

Unfortunately, everything was packed away to get through customs where you’re definitely not allowed to take photos and there were people behind us not wanting to be held up while we fished around in our bags for a phone or the camera.

Just practice match, but does suggest we have pulled together a very good list. Let's see how Al McConnell moulds it. Sounds like Cora played ok for her first hit out against opposition.

Well we were only 19 up at the end of the fourth quarter - the blow-out came during that all important fifth quarter. But yeah, good signs all around it seems.

Looking at the highlights package one has to wonder why Courtney Gum didn’t get picked up by someone last year. Looks class. Rebecca Beeson looks to have taken a step up as well. Liked Staunton’s snap on the left. We just looked like a more cohesive unit this year.

Gums a gun.Crows loss for not selecting her because of her age.Giants have nailed the draft and trades and now have a good blend of youth and experience which will set them up well this year.Mcconell will make a massive difference as well.Really good signs today.

A large contingent of the players were at Cal Ward's house for a get together going by social media

Looking forward to heading out to Casey Fields Saturday to see the Women play their first match. Will feel a bit different barracking deep in enemy territory!
