Went to the game yesterday and I have to say that out of all opposition fans including Collingwood and Essendon, Hawthorn fans are the worst I have seen. They continually hang crap on the opposition players and fans. Gary Ablett was the main target of their hatred. One bloke kept sarcastically calling "Hardball" everytime Gaz got the ball , I had to remind him that he is second in the comp in Hardball gets. Another bloke said "Hit That" every time he got the ball. And they all cheered when Guerra got Gary in the first Qtr. Let me say that finish was the most satisfying I have ever been to, and I was at the 2007 and 1994 preliminary finals. For some reason they weren't saying much in the last qtr and I did stick it up them rather nicely.

P.S. Selwood is a god

Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. They’re pure filth personified, plain and simple. The piss and poo sad excuse of a club should have rotted and died in the mid 90s, the world would’ve definitely be a better place without it. :thumbsu:

I've gotta say that that was the first game I've been to against a Victorian club this year that I didn't have a single person around me abusing the Geelong players. "Fatty Hawkins" and Ablett sledges are the two most popular it seems, but on Saturday it was a pretty good crowd I thought.

I know all clubs have those suporters that have a hard time losing , I have a hard time with it myself . but I came across a group of Hawk suporters leaving the MCG that were having words with some cats fans , It sounded pretty funny at first until a couple of Hawks started bringing up the young girl that died last week saying stuff about only good geelong suporters are the ones that join the cheer squad and well I wont repeat what they said, very tacky stuff. gone to a new low.

This stuff dissapoints me, and I know it probably won't mean much coming from an opposition supporter, but I thought our fans were better then that. Unfortunately, every team's supporter base represents a very broad cross-section of society, and every team, your own included, has some ****wit supporters.

For the record, and this is nothing against you guys personally because I'm sure your a good bunch, but I had to put up with some arrogant w***ers after the finish on Saturday. I had no problems with Cats fans being happy and celebrating, but there was no need for certain individuals to rub it into the faces of every Hawks fan in sight. Leaving the ground, there was this one girl in particular who started uttering profanties at me because I was in my Hawks top, abusing me about how shit my team was and how our season was over... I hope she realised your team only won by a point:confused: Needless to say the old 'who won last year's GF?' quote got a gig a few times.

Anyway, I don't want to turn this into Bay 13. Congrats on the win and good luck for the rest of the year. Hopefully next time we play, our idiot supporters out there will be a tad more civilised.

If that is true, that's completely unacceptable.

I'm sure I'd speak for most Hawk fans when I say that is way beyond the pale and completely out of line, and not how we would want anyone associated with us to behave.

Great win by your club, especially with the injuries you had, and no doubt it hurt us, but there's no excuse for the behaviour described here.

Hope you come across better examples of Hawks fans next time Tonycam.

We had w***ers around us too that were bitching about Ablett and crying over Selwood getting frees. ********s behind us were singing the club song when they were 28 pts up in the 4th. Never seen so many people sprint for the exits at the end of the game. :D

as a Hawks supporter who's spent a bit of time at Skilled I'd argue that there's very little in it when it comes to arguing which of our clubs has the biggest moron fans.

But niether have anything on Collingwood fans in the outer at Vic park during the 90s. That was like trying to watch a football match during a bar fight. Honourable mentions also to any Carlton or Saints crowds when they were playing pre dome and waverly tennencies.

Seriously, morons everywhere, but Geelong and Hawthorn are far from the worst.

Idiots are everywhere, but that is particularly funny.

Mind you, I had to put up with a brother in law singing me the Geelong song for the whole of 2008. True story.

I agree there some of the worst, luckily when we got them at etihad there was nothing for them to cheer about.

Yesterdays game... seriously had me laughing SO SO hard well done Geelong. I think it was all the better than it turned out to be a truly finals raping heart breaking loss for the dawks

The reason why Geelong fans think Hawthorn are the worst is that they have beaten us in a lot of important games and abuse only really hurts when it is in an important game and you lose. I hate Hawthorn more than any other club but i think its more their arrogant playing group and facist president than the fans. And, honestly, the fact they have beaten us in a grand final 11 months ago.

All fan groups are broadly the same (good, bad, ugly), only that tosser John Harms would have you believe otherwise.

wasn't their a thread last week about Geelong Supporters at skilled who constantly bag players etc. I think all teams have their rotten apples and after a win like that emotions would have been running high on both sides of the fence. What happens at the footy stays at the footy in my books. But I agree some people do get carried away with it all and forget the sun rises tomorrow and life goes on win, lose or draw.

I was in M10 on Saturday, where the most rabid Hawk fans usually stand, and I had no problems with them at all. In fact, while they were quite pissed off at losing (naturally), they were as gracious in defeat as you'd expect under the circumstances.

Well said arads, I had a few hawthorn supporters around me who were getting very excited, because they thought they were going to win.

Every family has their shame. :o

To be honest, I've never met a "bad" Geelong fan, every Catter I personally know is a top bloke. Must be something in the water....except my bastard mate in the States who left me a message singing "one is the loneliest number you will ever know..."

Great game Cats.
Gutsy win by a team that barely had enough fit players.

They have had a go at G Ablett form the moment he started with us , jealous because the father son applied to us not them!

God bless the AFL members reserve... I was on level 2 on Saturday and didn't encounter a single obnoxious fan (Cat or Hawk) all day.

I hung around for a bit after the game before walking into the city and didn't see anything except smiles on Geelong faces and a lot of miserable Hawthorn faces.

Agreed...I've been to Skilled when Cats fans have behaved appallingly. It's just human nature and knows no club boundaries.

it just depends sometimes where u sit, i remember the 07 prem final i had great pies fans around me, all shook my hand after the game and wished me well the following week, other time theyre r ferials.

But on Sat i had 2-3 disgraceful Hawks fans arounhd me esp this women who would of been late 20's, everything that came out of her mouth was filth i couldnt beleive it, the stupid comments about Ablett and about hawkins weight were giving me the shits, and talk about Bagging selwood plz, i said half way thry last qtr Selwood will win us the game.

When bartel took the mark and the siren went i turned around and gave my 1st big spray in yrs to her, shes like settle down its only a game, i said f..k o.f u have carried on like a bitch all day now f.k .o.f

very good win just wish it was the last sat in sept or at least a knockout final.

Absolutely agree with you, we had quite a few Hawthorn supporters around us at the game and I couldn't fault them. I think for the most part that Hawthorn and Geelong supporters/clubs have a healthy respect for each other - there was no mouthing off just the enjoyment of a great game which is exactly what you want to see (however there are those who just can't help themselves - from both teams I might add).

I think it's a lucky dip when it comes to who you sit near at a game in general admission, no matter what teams are playing.

I was unlucky enough to sit in front of some Geelong fans that stepped over the line about a minute into the match.

Cyril snapped at goal and from our angle many thought it went through. A kid who would have been about 12 years old stood up and half-cheered.

This guy said "sit down" and then commented "I'm gonna smash that kid by the end of the game". The dad obviously didn't like that and pointed out that he was a kid enjoying the game. The cats fan and his foul mouthed lady friend kept going on about how he was in the way (I didn't know it was a crime to stand up and cheer at the footy) and then made comments later about a 'broken condom' implying that they were feral (glass houses).

Throughout the game he kept commenting on how no one knows the rules and making suggestions on what everyone else should be doing. Puzzling that someone who clearly owns the MCG was sitting in level 3 of the southern stand.

The worst part is that all day the kid clearly looked dejected after the threatening comment and didn't look like he enjoyed the fantastic match as much as he should have.

That would be the worst experience I've had with fans but I wouldn't say it's indicitive of all Geelong supporters.

At the end of the day, regardless of how hard we barrack and how passionate we are, everyone should be able to go to a match and enjoy this great game.

we were standing and there were a couple hawks fans seated in front of us that were blowing head gaskets (very WILSON like). they were yelling and going off their tree with kids seated right next to them. their whole reason to be at the game seemed to be to bag the cats players or umpires. when hawthorn scored they were nonchalant.

the funny thing was the hawks fans near us started trying to stir these guys.

PNess, you're absolutely right that that sort of behaviour is a joke.

My beef was with some of your several fellow supporters who showed alot of Geelong players - incl G. Ablett and other guns - absolutely no respect, their so called 'banter' went much further than that. Lucky we didn't stay in that part of the ground otherwise I fear it would've been on for young and old. Not worth it mate, it is a cliche but at the end of the day it is just a game.

Regardless, unless she said something personal to you that's a pretty weak effort. Would you have done the same thing had you lost?

Everyone bags opposition players as part of friendly footy banter, but I don't think things need to get personal between fans.

Don't take comments about your team personally and don't get personal with others unless they do so first!!
