I reckon Wells is a bit soft, particularly mentally. If Hill turns out to be as flaky as Wells I'll be pretty disappointed.

i liked hill the other night and i do see the similarities with wells
i see no reason why hill can not play the full season like wells did when he was probably even smaller

daniel wells is my favourite player i love watching him and you have done well if hill turns out to be as good as him or better (ie 2nd best player in a team that consistently plays finals)

just because hill was compared to a player it doesnt mean you have to bag the player out
wells is far from soft

You're a tad biased though Aria.

I like Wells and hope Hill can be as clean with the ball and move around the field as naturally as Wells.

The thing that gives Hill the potential to be better than Wells, is the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th efforts that come naturally to Hill.

Not many players have the endeavour and will for the contest ala Hill and are as naturally talented as him.

You have to trust the Brains Trust when it comes to the kids and I've liked what I've seen so far. However I did watch a lot of footage of Mitch Robinson prior to the draft and was very impressed. He will be very good and I actually thought we might have been a chance to draft him.

I think Wells' repeat efforts are v.good ... always been one of his strengths since he was a junior. Hill's accountability to his direct opponent is much superior and he'll certainly have more versatility than Wells. Objectively I think they have similar levels of talent overall ... although Wells was definitely ahead at the same age, 2nd in the Sandover medal as a skinny 180/69 bottom aged draftee.

Wells has had a satisfactory career so far I reckon. He is going into his 7th season now and he really should be pushing into the top 20 or 30 players in the comp

It was interesting watching several young blokes go round last night, especially those so intensively discussed on BF in the leadup to the draft. I was of course impressed by Ziebell. Robinson is a goer but probably lacks a bit of class. The two Garlett boys looked good and I thought Liam Anthony showed why some of us were disappointed when Freo didn't pick him up. Ballantyne had better be good.

I think all these zone defences will be vulnerable to small forwards with explosive speed, assuming the midfield is skilled enough to kick it to them. Ballantyne should get plenty of opportunities to kick bags. Dom's criticism of him as a 4 foot tall full forward might be pretty accurate, but footy might be made for midget full forwards when no one is playing on a man.

Love your positive thinking KP.

wells reminds me a bit of des headland... he is a good solid player who usually does his bit each week, however he has the talent to do so much more and rarely does, hence the reason he gets bagged a bit on boards such as this one
