Hawthorn are flying at the moment. Absolutely miles in front of anyone.
i rated Geelong highly before we smashed them, the way i see it is
Syd - Hawks are clearly the best teams
Port - Freo next best
Geelong
---------------premiership window
Collingwood
the rest

Think hawthorn are not anywhere above collingwood with current injuries and certain players poor form.

You're clearly lacking in comprehension skills.

Even though we've beaten Sydney in 15 of our last 18 encounters including our past two matches, there's no way we'd get anywhere near them if we were to play them NOW...

We weren't favourites for 15 of the 18 either and still won.
The point is we match up well just like GEEL against Haw.

Remember last yr - swans were favourites Tippett kicked 6 and swans still lost.

We can never be counted out against them and the boys obviously have the same belief.

I think Collingwood are a great side and will be there at the pointy end of this season, but to make this thread after they beat St Kilda is a bit optimistic. Sure they are threats, but anyone will look like a threat after the saints.

Geelong and Freo have showed NOTHING more than the pies this year. That's just daft.

Syd-Port: Clear top two right now.

Hawks-Geelong-Freo-Collingwood: Next best. Hawks only there due to injuries at the moment. Will be back up by years end.

yeah i made that post before watching the GWS game
id say Syd and Port are at the top with Syd edging them out abit

Agreed. You've clearly been crueled by injuries and you're form isn't great. You're still a threat once you get your players back though.

That's what Sydney said last year, and we know how that turned out. I'm less than optimistic about us being able to defy that type of history.

As a supporter you just cling onto the hope that once you get your players back they will just pickup and play at the level they left off sadly it doesn't work that way as we found out :(

The more injuries you get the harder the players have to work to cover and plug the gaps, our midfield was gone a month before the finals and we just limped into 4th spot.

Spot on. And Pies will rate themselves a chance against Port (being relatively inexperienced) and the Swans (having beaten them already). HAwks at full fitness also clearly top two-three but on current form barely able to hold out GWS they are back with the field (ie 3rd-8th)

Its a very tight competition right now.

Accurate assessment.

Flag favourites, best team by a mile Hawthorn.

Not on current form and our injury list consists of Lewis, Mitchell, Gibson, McEvoy, Whitecross, Lake, Hale, Stratton, Spangher, Rioli and Anderson. We had six players yestarday who have played 10 games or less. On current form Sydney and Port Adelaide have been the two best sides so far. We got belted by Geelong, Port Adelaide and Sydney and we almost lost to the Giants. At this stage we are lucky to be in the top four.

Hawthorn will do enough to keep their heads above water so to speak until their stars return, as long as they can remain in the top 4 until then I'd still back them for the flag. Obviously a long way to go though and they wouldn't want to sustain even more injuries particularly to their defence.
