Team Captain
Just a question if you go to many Games in which your team is not playing, and how one-eyed you are.
I only go to Geelong games. All the Melbourne ones, and I catch the train to Kardinia Park (or Skilled now?) about 5 times a year to watch them play in Geelong. In fact, I cant remember ever attending a game in which Geelong did not play (but I have gone to a State of Origin match at the 'G once).
But dont get me wrong - I love watching all the footy games. If there is an AFL game on the telly, I'll watch it - it does not matter who it is that is playing - as long as it is a good match. Sometimes, even if both mobs arent mine, I still can get emotionaly involved and, say, barrack for the team I tipped.
But watching games on TV and attending them are different things. I just cant imagine it being the same attending an AFL match when Geelong is not playing (because I have never before). When my team is playing I am part of the game - I cheer when a goal is kicked and dont make a sound when a score is kicked against us. If my team was not playing, I'd watch it with interest, but I wouldnt be a PART of the game - my emotions wouldn't ride on it. It just wouldnt be the same sitting in a big crowd without a team to passionately support.
I'm sure many of you have got to games in which your side is not playing - and tell me, its different, hey? You dont cheer when either side scores, its just not the same!!!
As I said before, I love watching all teams play on the telly, but when I go to the Footy, I dont know how it would feel if I attended a match not envolving MY team.
So I pose this question. Also, I'd like to know if Adelaide fans attend Port games and vice-verca? The same for the 2 WA sides?
