Well since it was only Newscorp that was prepared to dig into how quarantine was being managed, that is incredibly ineptly, it’s the basically the only sources available that give any sort of meaningful detail about how predictably it all went **** up.

Pretty convenient just to dismiss that investigative journalism team out of hand on that basis (evil biased Murdoch media out to get Labuh) when all the other news sources where pathetically at pains to lay the blame somewhere else entirely or were completely silent and passive about doing some actual serious investigative work in really finding out what led to the Melbourne quarantine leaks and the inevitable spread.

Oh no Channel 9, Fairfax and abc were far too busy going along with the preferred Andrews and Labor narrative that it was Melburnians lack of compliance to draconian lockdown rules that were to blame for the subsequent covid leaks and spread or pin it on Morrison and the Liberals when that angle wasn’t getting any traction. Funny that the other states, both Liberal and Labor, didn’t have the same issues on quarantine incompetence.

And this was after articles had been published in June of 2020 that asserted that Melburnians were by far the best in Australia to abide by social distancing rules at the time.

Whether you like it or not, it can’t be denied that Andrews hired security contractors based on reasons that did not have containing covid as the number one priority for a very delicate once in a century operation.

Instead Andrews politicized the pandemic and prioritized handing out contracts for quarantine to security companies with links to Labor (lining the pockets of Labor mates with tax payer monies) that were supposedly owned by minorities/indigenous individuals (dubiously so as the so-called indigenous owner looked overwhelmingly Anglo), and that went on to hire low killed migrant workers.

Andrews paid millions for monkeys to oversee quarantine security but most of that money certainly didn’t go into the pockets of poorly paid frontline staff that in many cases had zero training in regards to effective quarantine management. Geez I wonder where those millions went? Labor at the end of the day is not that different to the Libs, they’re not opposed to sticking their snouts in the trough when the opportunity presents itself.

I have to handed to Andrews, that boy doesn’t waste any opportunity to promote himself and his party with tax payers monies. I have to admit that he is a very shrewd operator in that sense, ticking all the right demographic boxes that would appease his feral LWNJ woke base and possibly win more voters for upcoming elections in the process.

Sadly that ability doesn’t extend to other more crucial and pivotal areas of politics as he is completely hopeless at it evidenced by how many times Melbourne had to go into lockdowns compared to every other major city in Australia.
In terms of information and reporting on the majority of deaths in Victoria.
Who do you think covered the facts and background the best way? Who do you think added a narrative?
How do you allocate blame, and to who?

Yet Dan is odds on for the next poll.

You’ve probably expressed some anti-Dan opinions at some stage.
Am struggling to recall a Vic premier who’s achieved as little as he has; socially and economically. If you remove his fine handling of lockdown during pandemic, there’s very little else; hospitals are flailing, his Police force seems bogged down in administrative controversy, 1+ billion lost on East West link.

Have you met Ted?

Take a drive around Melbourne, Dan is doing things .... dont have to support him to notice & 'doing things' was a winner last time out.

There is plenty of material for the Oppositions ads next time, IF they can tap into what gives the electorate the irrites, not some mindless recital of ideology that appeals only to the converted, aka rusted on.

At least Newscorp made an attempt at trying to find out what went wrong at the coal face (those in charge of making decisions in government and those they employed to oversee quarantine) and not spuriously blame it on the innocent Melburnians or alternatively when that eventually failed the Feds. Other news outlets seriously let Melburnians down when it came to holding Andrews accountable for what went wrong so we only really have Newscorp for that coverage, it is what it is.

How do you allocate blame, and to who?

Who do you think? Andrews gladly took on the responsibility, there was no way a cunning narcissistic control freak like Andrews was going to pass this opportunity up and allow the Feds dictate the terms about how returning expats and travelers were to be let in and quarantined in Melbourne.

Disaster obviously saw this is as an opportunity to big note himself (to be fair so did the other Premiers) to his constituents and use it for political mileage (i.e. I saved and protected you from covid) in upcoming elections. All Disaster had to do if he didn't want this responsibility was to close the Victorian airports (like he did for about 8 months or so in 2020 and the first half of 2021 when we were still trying to get back to zero cases) and Morrison would have had no choice but to take over that aspect of the pandemic.

So what did go wrong?

If Andrews had closed the airports, would that have stopped the majority of deaths in the first year?

There’s effectively no opposition at present.
What things is he doing?

I've gone over what went wrong in my recent posts.

Had Andrews forced Morrison to take responsibility for quarantine than he wouldn't be in the firing lining for anything that went wrong and in the same vein couldn't take credit for anything that went right and that's what I suspect ultimately led to him putting his hand up for it.

And that's just the thing, his ego didn't allow him contemplate the possibility that he wouldn't be able to manage it competently and just foolishly assumed that quarantine management for the most part would be smooth sailing with Labor potentially using it two years down the track as a promotional tool for re-election. Well that blew up in his face didn't it?

Yeah, but do you like his voice? Is it a better tone than albo's, for example?
From Gough to Fraser., Hawke, Keating, and even Howard, Rudd, Gillard, that other bloke and now Morrison. Not to mention DA here in Vic. Excellent key political communicators have spoiled the AU public. Albo would be the first exception to that standard of communication.

Hospitals always will flail when all the money goes to prop up the ****ing Alfred.
You also missed getting rid of level crossings
But overall probably shit premier with an alternative that dreams of being shit (Guys brain fart today to unilaterally propose ending close contact isolation without asking for health advice first)

I’m very disappointed witn the current Vic opposition; has been effectively non existent

Well lets pick something, and go deeper with it. Because you've not actually explained what went wrong. Saying it went wrong because Dan Andrews is bad and failed, doesn't explain anything.

If you were banned, and when asked the moderator tells you it's because of your posts on BigFooty. Would you consider that an answer?

This doesn't say anything, other than that Dan Andrews is bad, and failed.

This is just saying that Dan Andrews is bad, and failed.

"He didn't manage it". It, is more important than distracting language that paints a narrative.

Here's an example. I think Morrison is a poor PM, because he didn't call out and address Barnaby Joyce, when Joyce made the inciteful comments about Melbourne.
Joyce was asked during an interview with News Corp Australia whether the nation needed to move on from the idea of having zero COVID-19 cases.
He said yes, which prompted further questioning about whether that view would be unpopular in the Victorian capital.
"Of course," he replied. "But in country areas we couldn't really give a sh*t. We've got record exports of coal. Record exports of beef. But we look at Melbourne, and go, you can almost smell the burning flesh from here."

Let's recap Barnaby Joyce's first week back as Deputy Prime Minister.

I'm curious whether this happened in the Monash or another freeway?

With all the construction taking place at the moment in the Monash, there are multiple sections of the road that have the 40kh reduced limit but barely any driver adheres to it with the most drivers going at around 60kh and some even faster. The part of the Monash that I use regularly doesn't have any mobile speed cameras, (the only one I'm aware of is around Berwick and I seldom need to drive that far into the south east), and the police supposedly, who from time to time pop up on overpasses and emergency lanes, don't take photos they just chase down drivers driving at excessive speeds, so here's hoping that they haven't changed that practice.
Apologies for my delayed reply, I just saw your post.
It was on Tullamarine Freeway.

To seek to engage with the question what went wrong
- implementing a HQ system with undertrained staff who were managed by a group which is suspected to only have been chosen due to "diversity" rather than a sustained track record of competence (I believe this is charge levelled at Unified Security - small company with < 200 employees from what I can see
https://www.dnb.com/business-direct...pty_ltd.50a6285491795bca7ba1ed15838b331e.html) the other 2 (MSS and Wilsons) have been in business of security longer - though also no experience in managing a HQ system.
  • by the choice of using private security and being "unable to remember" how the decision was made, it is fair IMO that he gets blame for this decision
  • failure by Andrews to understand the model of care used at multiple private nursing homes which had staff working multiple shifts at multiple facilities which acted as vectors of spread of disease

That being said, one cannot get things right if one does not risk failure. It is better to risk failure in the action of trying to address a situation than it is to **** off to Hawaii and claim nothing is one's job.
