Surprised nobody has said much about this yet, as there is plenty to like!
The good:
Levi Greenwood is back baby! Will play in the VFL this week to build up match fitness in preparation to return to the seniors. If nothing else, he is a massive in for our VFL side, who are playing Casey this weekend in Cranbourne, which is always a tough task.
Which brings us to.....
Darcy Moore! The prodigal son returns from his hamstring injury this week! He was in fantastic form before he got injured, and on the cusp of senior selection. Another massive in for the VFL side, and fingers crossed he can pick up where he left off before injury, albeit on reduced game time.
Adam Oxley should be ok to play after being subbed with neck soreness on Sunday. He was quiet regardless and may drop back to the twos for a spell, but it's good news that he's fit to play.
Ben Reid and Clinton Young both recovered well from their return games on the weekend, and will also line up in the VFL. We should have an incredibly strong squad this week.
The bad:
Jackson Ramsay has had his shin injury re-classified from a corkie to a 'stress reaction'. Whether this means shin splints or something else, who knows. The club is being very coy about it and are stating that they're taking a conservative approach. It's a crying shame, because Ramma was really starting to shine after 2 years of development, and our defence has been poorer for is absence imo.
Ben Sinclair is still regarded as medium term in recovery from his hamstring injury. Once again, it's a shame as he was the stand out small defender at the start of the year. Unfortunately the club may choose to cut their losses with him given his poor injury history.
The neutral:
Nathan Freeman is still recovering from his hamstring surgery, which was declared a success. He is back and running, but regarded as medium term. No rush for this kid, we want him cherry ripe and able to utilise those afterburners he is known for with no issues.
Brent Macaffer is recovering from his recent surgery and regarded as medium term. It will be nice to see him back eventually, but in all honesty, the senior team isn't missing his presence, and he may struggle to find a role for himself when he returns. Time will tell.
Overall, things seem to be looking up on the injury front!
