Robbo was awesome.

Not only flew the flag, but was actually pretty neat with his disposal as well.

Nicoski, Ward and Wood were the ones who really embarrassed themselves.

apart from malthouse who just seemed to get this game and was spot on last year the aussies should get hird or voss to take charge next time maybe? at least these have played the game and should have an understanding. eade was a disaster this year.

if you picked all your AA side you wouldnt win, some of them would be to big and awkward for this faster type game. you need a mixture of both. jack riewold was brilliant in ireland last year as was adam goodes. it has a year brak now so we will all be ready for it in 2 yrs time!

Rofl? Swan Goodes Judd Ablett Franklin.. need i say more?

Such a pissy effort from the Aussies, take it seriously or scrap the series.:thumbsd:

Agree with lots of what has been said.

Well done to the Irish.
Lots of plastic tough guys, Mitch Robinson stands out... he really is fake. If you want to be tough, be tough within the laws of the game. Keep the rules as they are and live within them. The AFL and GAA should have brief local IR comps to decide who gets selected.

To whinging fans, accept the loss.

Absolutely correct; the Aussies beat Ireland last year without the snide off-the-ball tackling, but by pace, skill and proficiency with the round ball; the likes of Adam Goodes were superb, shame he wasn't involved this series.

In terms of the series; the Irish were missing a fair few guys who are still doing club championships, but the Aussie squad was just a hotch-potch of guys who weren't good enough or weren't interested. I think the fact that the Irish were preparing weeks in advance was a key factor.

As for the 'semi-overweight' comment; care to point out any of the Irish team who are anything close to being 'semi-overweight'? Bizarre comment to say the least.

Quite right, I don't think that fans of either code mind players being tough, physical etc, but when a guy just acts like a mouthy dick throughout the two games, he's gonna end up looking like an arseh*le. He started with Tuohy before the throw-in last week ffs!

Didn't we used to play the AA side but found that the bolded was the case. So we started picking smaller and quicker teams, but the strategic selection has degenerated into just picking anyone up for it.

There were a select few good players in the side - Kelly, Vince, Milne, Swallow etc. but a heap of guys who really had no right wearing an Aussie jumper. At least last year we had guys like Goodes and Swan.

I blame Rodney for team selection and training, the squad seemed to fit his "32 HB's with little accountability but can run fast and kick long" ethos. And we obviously didnt adjust to the ball at all.

But I enjoyed the games still, the Ireland players arent that far off being able to step straight into our sport at all.

Hopefully next year we get to see a couple more marquee players.

I agree with that, but even the (potentially) really good AFL players like Swallow, Grey, Smith etc.. are still kids.

I would love to see Naita play.. Franklin, Rioli, Thomas, Goodes (again) as well. Imagine a team with all those blokes!

Irish celebrating the win :o :D

Despite the spite during the game, it:

a) didn't get completely out of control like it did in 2004/2005/2006
b) the Irish coaching staff didn't overreact to the incidents post-match (Tohill was very composed and professional in his post match interview when asked about the incidents compared to the disgraceful antics of his predecessor in 2006)
c) the players still shook hands/exchanged jumpers at the end of the game
d) I've seen worse in the NHL than what I saw tonight

I'd still like the series to continue, but if it doesn't no big deal.

Congratulations to the Irish. It's a pity there's pretty much zero GAA coverage over here, would love to watch more of it, and would rather watch their game than some of the other 'sports' that does end up on the sport channels here.

ya ye used to bring the best but it needs a certain type of player IMO. the squad you had last year was near perfect, some big target men but also some brilliant runners with great foot skills. I personally think Malthouse got all aspects spot on tactically aswell so he should take great credit. not sure what happened this year, the players werent good enough for this game and they were small and light so you didnt have the usual power to put the relevant pressure on our side.

FF - Goodes J.Riewoldt Banfield

HF - Franklin Cloke Green

Mid - Swan Pendlebury Ablett

Fol - Smith Judd Murphy

HB - O'Brian Frawley Shaw

FB - Scarlett Fletcher (GK) Hodge.

Wonder what kinda score that would produce?

You'd be the only one :D

Gaelic is going through a bit of a tough patch at the moment; attendances etc are still very good and well ahead of anything else in the country, but in terms of quality and entertainment in the game, there's definitely been a lull in the last few years.

Whose idea was it for Rodney Eade to coach?

Not a current AFL coach and he wasn't a particularly successful one when he was. Couldn't Malthouse or Roos have done it?
