Is it still a weak era like it possibly was in 2017-

I dont think its a weak era at all, anyone who thinks so has rocks in their heads.

Every team is under the same set of rules/conditions etc - some say this season is compromised, I agreee a little with that due to hubs, but every team has been under some sort of retrictions.

I will tell you what was a weak era.

In the 1800 hundreds when the Handbaggers won all those bush Flags when there were only 2 teams in it and the captains umpired the games and you found out who won by carrier pidgeon.

Oh that and 2007.

This has to be performance art, or a serious psychological break. I suppose the two are quite similar

Not really a fair question considering that AFL football peaked in difficulty in 2016. No Cola, no zoning concessions, no salary cap cheating.

Grin Mister M I wonder about the Richmond hate.

I have no animosity towards Richmonds 2017 GF win. Considering what they endured between their 2 flags of 1980-2017.

From 1983-2012, Richmond only made finals in 1995 and 2001.

Then you think of the 9th placed finishes since 1994: 1994, 1996 , 1998, 2000, 2006 and 2008.

Turn those 9th placed finishes in to 8 placed spots and that's another 6 finals. And possibly an Elim finals win from 8th spot too.

That means it goes from a 2-4 record to a 2-10 record. But at least you make finals 6-8 years out of 30 rather than just too.

Would look much better in the history books too. Imagine Richmond having a finals run In 1994-6 and 2000-01.

Guys like Richardson, Broderick, gales, knights and Daffy deserved more finals than they got at Richmond.

That would have all been true had it not been that Richmond was a basket case 👍

But I think the repeated failures of the previous generation is what made 2017 so special for many supporters.

Two finals campaigners in 25 seasons (1995 & 2001) lead to a fan base that was incredibly overjoyed by making finals in 2013. The '13, '14 & '15 finals experiences broke the heart of many supporters (especially the 9 in row in '14).

I think for many 2017 was a 'fairytale' season and an underdog finish. If Richmond dropped down the ladder after that like the Bulldogs did the year before Richmond would be seen in a different light by many opposition supporters compared to the "Richmond dynasty" of today. Finals in 7 of the last 8 seasons and now 4 prelim finals in a row with 2 Premierships turns them into a team that's easy to dislike.

Are the tigers the worst premiership side of the the millennia? Bar only Bulldogs.

All other premiership sides of the past 20 years would decimate the tigers. It’s a reflection of how poor the competition is at the moment.

Imagine the three-peat lions or hawks up against this Richmond outfit. Or the 04 Port.

No, being a bunch of chucking, flopping filthy snipers who repeatedly break quarantine and demand special treatment turns them into a team that's easy to dislike.
