With Sarge injured, should McGregor be moved to CHF?

I’ve posted this elsewhere but wit the doggies has a smaller faster attack maybe its time Mr Rutten was given a crack up forward

If only for 1 game ?

Yep Kenny is good and has played at CHF but I think its better to leave him at CHB even against the Doggies
Not gonna happen.

Craigy builds his sides from defence forward. Rutten is the most integral player for us in defence. Craigy won't do it.

Yes but NC has also preached versatility – now the chips are down and down fairly badly Rutten is in the leadership team and he is exactly what we need up forward, Rutten has the skills and brain to give us that little extra up forward that I think we may need.

I also agree with your sentiments regarding Messon up forward (in the other post) and his future – maybe it’s a bit early for him but I really think he will benefit

If Jericho gets a game this week I will be preparing two things – A nice humble pie and a bitter bill of disappiontment
If Jericho plays and does well I am going to pass it around for nearly every poster on this board – if he buggers it up well I will have to swallow the fact that maybe he isn’t up to it !

The only other way we can get around this is bring in Vince and Porplyzia and go for fast football

I guess we can play a midget backline against the Dogs though.

Assuming Marty Mattner pulls up fit, I think he'd be a great match for Murphy at CHB. Kenny could go to CHF, which gives Trent licence to roam.

I think that Bassett could probably play FB this week and Rutten CHB, given match-ups, with McGregor forward. But this is probably a set-up with a life of 1 week.

It may be a good opportunity to throw someone in the deep end to see if they can swim. It isn't ideal, but we are pretty short on options. I have to confess I'm keen to see Maric and Meeson, but in the ruck rather than as forwards. It will be tough enough for them anyway without asking them to play as forwards.

Bulldogs use speed to bring the ball into attack and score.....Kenny's attribute is the contested mark for high kicks into the forward line and on big KPP....neither of which he is going to get this week against the Bulldogs.

IMO he'll be a liability in defence....must be moved forward and Hentschell to CHB where his mobility will suit against the small Bulldog forwrds

Would you throw Bassett forward....he has done it before and been successfull and at least he'll provide a contest and bring the ball to the ground for the likes of Bode ...

Nope.

This week Bassett will play FB and Rutten at CHB on Grant. I reckon Kenny might play CHF with Roo at FF and Hentschel as a roaming forward.

Bulldogs forward line is made up of tall CHF and the rest are all midfielders type. They rotate their midfielders through the FF line and on a regular basis. We have to be quick on decising the match ups in defensive 50. There is no need for another tall in defence this week, hence moving Kenny to CHF.

My question was more about the longer term issues. Should Kenny move to CHF "permanently" now that Sarge is injured. He is our best contested marker and IMHO we would get much more value out of him at CHF than at CHB.

Don't disagree with your thinking there....Kenny has very good aerobic capacity to do Perries role so yes I think he should be moved.

I just can't see many other options.

The answer is staring me in the face and I like what I see in the mirror

Kenny to CHF
Trent to CHB

Roo (Biglands with Bode and Macca crumbing playing in fwd line also_
Kenny
Goody
Trent
Rutts

is still a good spine

How reliable is your source?

WE are now 3 KPP down on our ideal set up. It seems rair to say the club has lost faith in Stevens so how is Gibson travelling?

Good get by the Douche there.

Straight to the fence for four

macca23 So for me it's Biglands up forward said:
So true Mac, these aren't normal times so we have to get a little less conservative with our selections. I would bring in Maric to share the ruck load with Clarke. I would then move Biglands permanently to the FF line. Trent H to CHF and Kenny to CHB. Surely Craigy and co. have to pick Maric this week. Christ how many more talls do we have to lose before this kid gets a game.

Without a shadow of a doubt Kenny should be our CHF - best contested mark we have by a country mile. :thumbsu:

Every time I see Kenny play forward I worry about him doing a knee. God I wish he wouldn't hit the ground so hard. I bet the AAMI stadium groundskeepers do too, with the amount of bloody turf his knees take out each week.

Having said that, he takes such a brilliant contested grab, and there's really no need to have him in defence this week, that I'd much prefer to see him play CHF than CHB. But I'd actually prefer to see him play FF. Love to see him take a contested grab or five in the goalsquare. Let Roo push up from CHF, if he's fit enough.

Is McGregor carrying an injury? He looks a lot slower this year than last year. Was watching the replay on FuxFooty of last weeks game. He looks sluggish to me, in that accelleration he had last year over the first 10-20m.

According to Thommo on CH10 today, we are likely to see McGregor forward this week.

Also its expected to be a top of 18 with showers on saturday so bringing in another tall is definetly not an option now.

showers would elp us:thumbsu:

Bulllies used to perfect playing conditions and it would disadvantage them more than us IMO
