Before anyone mentions Michael Barlow who was 22 or 23 at the time, I'm talking about players drafted out of TAC or equivalent junior league.

Judd was incredibly good from the get go, more impactful, but wasn't putting up the numbers Daicos is. Selwood and Walsh were both great and played important roles but slightly behind.

Partly pains me putting this one up, but it's awesome watching Daicos dominate games of footy. Beautiful kicking skills, composed, accumulates but is one of the few high volume possession winners with hurt factor.

Massive ceiling.

Threads like this are utterly ****ing stupid, a big like the GOAT discussion

How can anyone really know who the best ever was if no one was alive 130 years ago to have seen every player play?

Joel Selwood. Won the rising star and a flag in the same year.
Flag is a nice, but not sure you can tack it on given Selwood probably wasn't in the best 10 players that day.

Selwood also didn't finish in the Top 15 in the Carji Greeves that year - Daicos should finish in the Top 5 (at worst) in Collingwood's BnF this year.

Chris Grant is one that comes to mind. Kicked 51 goals from just 20 games in his first year, at the ripe old age of 17. So two years younger than Nick is this year. And he was playing key position.

Was out there at the Western Oval for his first game.
Was an absolute Rolls Royce from the get go. Star.

Granted he was playing in a team that won only 7 games but Paul Hasleby copped tags and finished 2nd in our b&f in 2000. He averaged 21 touches a game and kicked 15 goals from 21 games as a pure mid. He had 30 and a goal on debut and a season high 37 and a goal. Two 3 x brownlow votes in two other games as well.

Rhys Palmer’s was up there too but Hasleby’s doesn’t get talked about enough, super clean hands and impacted games right away.

Daicos looks amazing and you’d be splitting hairs for mine to pick.

Classic bigfooty.

Such and such is the best "ever".

Then go back about 2 years.
Wait what.

A 1st year Daicos is currently better than a 3rd year Rowell.

Surely you didn't believe a quarter of a season is enough to validate Rowell as the best first year player of all time?

Michael Barlow had a good first year but is such a bizarre example in this situation lol.

It's like saying 'Is Buddy Franklin the best forward of all time? Now before any of you mention Billy Brownless, hear me out...'
