10 goal loss to a very average Saints side next week will be our rock bottom
Richmond owning us while pushing is down the ladder to increase the value of the pick they traded from us will be worse than watching the opposition sitting on the bench eating a kebab whilst we get out asses served up to us.

the truth is there is no rock bottom.

We’ve fallen into the event horizon of a black hole and are in the process of spaghettification.

We are somewhere that time has no meaning.

I may be flamed for this but I'd rather be in their shoes. And if they have any sense, so would they
Not going to have a crack at you but Carlton have been building for 20 years and shown nothing I may be the most optimistic dickhead on here, outside of the shit we witnessed last night I do see us slowly improving ( very slowly) after following this club for more than 50 years then it does turn it will be worth it.

Our backline is shit that needs to be our focus moving forward.

Main point of reasoning is that they'll definitely still exist in ten years. I'll take that guarantee even with a healthy helping of utter mediocrity

A mate of mine has worked as a Mechanic for years for a place that will not be named by my goodself. Each time I see him i ask him “How is work?” His response is “It’s going downhill fast.” Each Time. :stern look

So yah see there is no rock bottom. We are simply hurtling down a hill gaining momentum with every waking moment. Speeding out of control but never crashing. Forever hurtling into the Abyss. :stern look

The season honestly can’t end quickly enough. Maybe there’s been some marginal improvement this year, but given how poor we’ve been, that’s not saying much.

Looking back, it’s been a perfect storm to get to this point — so many things have gone wrong across the entire club: recruiting, trading, player development, a game style that doesn’t suit our list, selection issues — the list goes on. The problems trace all the way back to the end of the Scott era. It’s been a mix of bad decisions, bad luck, and the reality that we’re not a big club with deep resources.

I understand the psychological toll that this kind of prolonged failure takes on individual players and the team as a whole. Right now, the group looks broken — but somehow, we still need to find a way forward.

We’ve had several years now to start turning this around, and we just haven’t.

I’m not going to single out players — they don’t pick themselves, and they don’t choose the game plan. That said, some clearly shouldn’t be out there, and the trading and drafting in recent years has been shocking. So surely questions need to be asked of the decision-makers. This isn’t about blame — it’s about accountability and raising standards.

You can only sell “rebuilding” and “patience” for so long. At some point, we need to see real progress — not just effort, but clear development, cohesion, and a game plan that suits the talent we have.

As supporters, we can cope with hard times — but right now, it feels like we’re just drifting. You can’t question the heart of some of the young players, but they’re being thrown into a system that doesn’t support them.

Until there’s meaningful change at a structural level, it’s hard to see how things improve. As fans, we need more than just hope.

Apologies — I rarely post anything and now I've written a bit of a novella — but last night was tough!

For a start we need to stop recruiting players under 179cm. Modern football going back 20 years means big mobile midfielders….
