Is Thomas under-rated?

I'd prefer Collingwood supporters not to vote on this one. There are a number of opposition supporters who have bagged this bloke as a number #1 draft pick but his last few games have been fantastic. Not the soft outside player he's been labelled. Looks dangerous whenever he gets the ball and has that touch of magic about him. I think he deserves respect.

I think he's a damn good player. Has been very impressive and I can see the Hird like qualities. True he isn't an inside player and probably cops a bit of stick about it, but he's young and skinny and wasn't recruited for that purpose anyway.

I just think it's a mixture of him playing for the Pies and the constant 'my Brad Dick is bigger than your Brad Dick' that people don't rate him. I think all teams supporters are guilty of this. Not sure what you get out of arguing about who's the better draftee or who's getting more kicks etc. Each player is recruited for a particular purpose and role and anybody who knows anything about football would know this.

Weak, outside-receiver who really seems frightened by the contested and contact side of the game. We have one of them, his name is Ryan Houlihan, he has twice the footskills and was recruited at pick #73.

Having a thread dedicated to him is enough to suggest that he is extremely overated. Will become an opportunistic forward pocket at best.

Thomas is a good little player, but has a trademark tendency to pack-watch, and wait for the soft receive from his team-mates. Feeble, and "mostly scared", pretty much describe his on-field demeanor at present. Hopefully that will change with time. A good 12-15 draft pick.

He is always going to suffer from the fact he plays for a team that opposition supporters hate. Anyone with an un-bias eye will obviously support the fact he is a gun. People who just plainly hate the Pies will bag him out. It's actually very sad.

Hird and Buckley have suffered from it for a long time. People still say they're no good. It's known as tall poppy syndrome.

He is a good player, but I absolutely hate the way he rolls into a ball, lying on the ground wanting a free kick for nothing while his opponent is running away with the footy. He also loves the odd cheap-shot with an elbow to his opponent's face while the ump isn't watching.

Once he hits puberty and toughens up he'll be a gun.

He is more overrated since... well.. overratedness. He, imo has done nothing yet to show he is a gun footballer. Anybody can take a big grab or kick a "spectacular" goal, it is the players who do the stuff without recognition (eg. shepards) that are true players and deserve the recognition players liek thomas recieve.
