Yep. Wasn't getting a game before and now Scott Selwood and Cam Guthrie are back. Menzel or Cram will be in this week (with the other possibly the week after) with Hendo and Cockatoo in the mix too. Not necessarily the same as Thurlow but they won't make it easier for him to squeeze in. Just no spot for him which is unfortunate but probably a good problem for us to have.
Every player on the list is of use to us, but Jackson is certainly a marginal/fringe player as things currently stand.

Looked really promising before the knee but has clearly struggled since.
Saw him with Menzel and SS at the Tiges game in the stands - I knew he was 190cm or so but didn't realise how well built he is - looked very formidable - reckon you could fit 2 x Parsons into his silhouette.
Let's hope he's not one that blossoms should he end up elsewhere , pity - really like the kid

Hamling- Doggies then Freo.
Agree with you regarding Thurlow. He simply has not been given the opportunity of a run of games to get his confidence up, or to show what he is capable of. I would hate to see him as part of a premiership team at Hawthorn, but it would be great for Jackson. He is a classy finisher, and we need those in September, but as always, we must get there.
And the club surely realise that Harry and Hendo are only here for the short term now. Anyway, not our responsibility or call.
I was talking of Jeremy Laidler. Just couldn't remember his name at the time. Another player who did well in defense for other clubs

He does a lot of supplemental upper body work with surfing. Incredible physique. Agree with your points.

So with TomStew out, there's legitimately a spot open for selection.
Was brilliant in the first half last weekend before being iced.

Yet, the MC would prefer to send Henry back and debut Abbott than select JT.
He most definitely is on the outer, and likely gone at season's end.

They must really not rate his robustness.. too outside?

I think the fact that they keep naming him as an emergency is an encouragement, a sign to him that they haven't given up on him working through what they perceive as his problem.

I still believe in you Jackson :'( Just might not all come together for you at Geelong with the MC not picking you :'(:'(:'(
A real test of his patience and I wonder what the communication between coach/ MC and Jackson has been like this year.

Really hope he gets picked up and goes on to have a solid career elsewhere. His VFL form warrants selection. For whatever reason it's not gonna happen at the cats. Sure he'd have a lot to prove and stick it up those who haven't backed him in.

Id say it depends on weather. If heavens open up, I see him as the late in for Stanley. If conditions are good, Smith in for Stanley.

Regarding the posts about his build, Josh Hunt says hi. The original Tarzan/Jane. Terrible in 08, 13. At least he heroically did his ACL allowing us to win 09.

Yep Stanley will be a late out

I can tell you it hasn't been good for a while.

Jackson will be gone at year end. Lots of interest in him.

That is not great to read. I like him a lot, and he has attributes our team, and most teams can use.
He just hasn't been given a decent run.
I'd hate to see him at Hawthorn using that great kick of his to make us say WHY??

I really can't see him at Geelong next year. Will probably get dropped after that performance.

A shame, he looked good before his ACL.

Just not the same is he. A shame but I do think he's on borrowed time.

Disappointing tonight. Very fortunate to get another opportunity. Then buggered it both offensively and defensively. Probably remain in the side due to Bews and Stewart injuries but hard to be confident in him turning it around. Just not up to the level.

First game back and it was a white hot top-of-the-ladder team in high pressure match. Comparitively Henderson has been nursed back into the side, and as soon as it got hot he faltered last night. This inclusion is throwing Daniel to the lions stuff. Cut Thurlow some slack. He did some good things.

He had some horror moments - but id let those slide - what i didnt get was his "motlop moments" when he had to just compete for the ball in a 1 on 1 and didn't. He hesitated. And in that game, the hesitation meant lost possession.

Player make skill errors - some at really poor times - and it looks worse. Hendo shanked a kick. Thurlow did the same and it was uber costly but those things can happen.

The choice to not "go" is ingrained however. And im not suggesting he needs to be Selwood or anything - but just like when Mots needs to go, Thurlow need to as well. And to that, Stanley has gotten shit for the same thing - and then been praised for correcting it. Problem is Thurlow has about 1 game left to fix it.

GO Catters

thought he was decent

showed some good things but unfortunately being an outside player he has no chance at Geelong

our club just wants instant results, no time for an outside player who needs team cohesion

will be the same with Brown and Lang, skillful outside players need to be part of a team for an extended period of time
